Are You That Person?

Three Types of Dishonest Scum Bags

17
Are You That Person?

Dishonesty, to act without honesty; it is used to describe a lack of probity, cheating, lying, or being deliberately deceptive. Or as a friend of mine would say, the definition of a scum bag.

Part of living this dreadful life on earth is going through the bad parts where people lie and do you wrong. I am not talking about that little white lie or one of those situations where you try to get out of telling the truth, I am talking about the big lies, the ones that really make life suck. No it is not fair, but for some reason it is something that everyone has to face at some point in their lives. Everyone faces it a little bit different though. Which is why I want to recreate the different types of dishonest people in the world.

The thieves: These people go out of their way to take, take, and take, no matter who it is from. Your family? Who cares … that jewelry you left on your dresser? As soon as you go to the bathroom its gone. Working an overnight? Okay let me take a whole bunch of stuff when your back is turned. That sandwich you left on the counter? It’s gone. My favorite part of having these people around is the denial though. For example, you see the same jewelry that went missing around your sister’s neck. Oh this necklace? It’s mine I just bought it. You cannot prove I stole anything from the store, the video has to be photo shopped. Your sandwich? Nah these aren’t crumbs, that’s dandruff. No matter what evidence you have against them they will always deny that they ever committed the crime.

The Dead Beat: If you are anything like me this is one of your favorite kind of dishonest people. These dishonest people are normally parents who will preach till the say that they die that they love you and will always be there, but in reality they are well … liars. They will tell you they are coming to see you, but instead they will find better things to do. Eventually they will make your hope fade, then disappear altogether.

The Cheaters: These ones are also known as the players. They come in the form of girls or boys. They do not come in the form of men and woman though. This form of dishonesty is only something a child can have the ability to do, it does not matter what the number of age there are. These type of people will lead you on to be believe that they are in it for the long run, but in reality they just want something meaningless. They want to see you get happy and make you think that you have something perfect, then they want to watch you slowly dwindle down when you catch onto what they are doing. Then they will lie and still try to drag you along. You’ll believe them, because that’s what you do, that’s how you fell in love to begin with. You believed their dastardly lies. Then they will cut off any connection all together. They go what they wanted and now the “game” is over. That is the worst and most common kind.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
