Snag that coffee and let's seize the day.

You've snoozed your alarm for the sixth time in a row, you're running late for work, your shirt is wrinkled, and the bags under your eyes have their own bags, not to mention your stomach cannot stop rumbling. The way in which you start your mornings determines the track for your entire day.

Speaking from someone who is far from a morning person, navigating a way to be able to start my morning off the right way is a great habit to avoid rushing yourself out the door and avoiding the unnecessary chaos in the morning.

Since embracing adulthood a few months ago, here are a few tips that have allowed for me to blossom into less of a grouch in the morning:

1. Early to Rise

Many of us dread the buzzing of the alarm clock, but setting your alarm a few minutes early allows for you to start your morning rush free. Early to rise and ready to take on the day with plenty of time to spare!

2. Sunny Side Up or Scrambled?

With you getting up earlier, that means you have just enough time in the morning to make yourself a healthy, yummy breakfast. Ditch the Poptarts and give yourself the time, effort, and flavor you need to be energized and full from the start of the day. You'll be surprised how much of a difference it makes to allow you to concentrate and hustle!

3. Make Your Bed (Ugh.)

Your mom had a point when she would nag you every other morning to make sure your bed was made. Tim Ferriss, podcast host of "The Tim Ferriss Show" interviewed over a hundred highly successful people, where he asked each one what their typical morning routine consisted of. Many of them noted how they made it a priority every morning to make their bed.

It may seem like the smallest task, but it allows for you to start your day off feeling accomplished, helping you form a solid foundation for your day for bigger tasks to tackle!

4. Mirror, Mirror On the Wall

Take the time in the morning to put yourself together. By allowing yourself to take the time to get ready, your allowing yourself to have the time to help you put effort into your appearance, starting your day with an extra confidence boost. Whether it's ironing your shirt, taking a few extra minutes on your hair, or getting to take five minutes longer in the hot shower, it allows for you to give yourself the time to take care of yourself and embrace the day with confidence and poise.

5. Create a To-Do List That You're Ready to Conquer

Nothing feels worse than navigating the day trying to remember the laundry list of tasks you need to have done before your head hits that pillow. By implementing the effort to take a few minutes when your mind is fresh and free from clutter, creating your to-do list will allow you to prioritize your time and figure out ways for you to get all of your tasks done! It may even allow you to figure out the nuggets of time to give yourself some much needed self care and recharge.

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.

11 Times Aubrey Plaza Described Sophomore Year

Aubrey Plaza is one of my favorite humans in Hollywood. She's honest, blunt, unapologetic, and hilarious. I just started my sophomore year of college, and found that some of her best moments can accurately describe the start of the school year.

1. When your advisor tells you that you should declare a major soon.

2. Seeing the lost and confused freshmen and remembering that was you a short year ago, and now being grateful you know the ins and outs of the campus.

3. Going to the involvement fair to sign up for more clubs knowing that you are already too involved.

4. When you actually do the reading required for the first class.

5. Seeing your friends for the first time since last semester.

6. When you're already drowning in homework during syllabus week.

7. Realizing you don't have the same excitement for classes as you did as a freshman.

8. Going home and seeing people from high school gets weirder the older you get.
