I am going in to my last semester at Bowling Green State University. I am in the process of finishing my business degree. If you are currently in the business program, you all should know what I am talking about. So how can you tell if you are a business major at BGSU? I am glad you asked.
Business Calculus
The class that is considered the GPA killer or the class that keeps you out of the school of business. In a nut shell it is the class from hell (at least in my opinion). Some do great, others do good, and many just take their "C" and run. I took my C and ran. I regret nothing. If you are in the school of business, odds are you know someone or you are that someone that got held up with Calculus.
OR
If you are lucky enough to get through Calculus, odds are you stumbled your way into OR 3800. It is the only class business majors can get a "D" in and still be considered passing. When you see OR 3800 on your schedule, you know that you are in for one heck of a semester. Not the good kind either. It has definitely ruined some of my fellow classmates lives. This class is later on in your college career so odds are you just want to pass and be done with it. Graduating is more important than that 4.0 you carried for the past three years.
The hub
Only the coolest of cats get the privilege of hanging out in the hub if you are a business major. Located in the middle of the second floor of the Business Administration building, lies the hub. Business majors flock there to socialize with with classmates. Some study in the hub or others just pass the time in between classes. If you are in there, you are guaranteed too see someone you know.
Backpacks and other redeemable gifts
If you go to almost every business event imaginable on campus, you can use your reward point to get an Under Armour College of Business backpack. It is a symbol of status when you are roaming the halls. My time is almost done and I have always dreamed of getting one of those backpacks. There are other things you can get with your CBA Reward points. Shirts, jackets, water bottles, or even a fitbit. There are lots of cool things you can get for attending events and I highly recommend going to everything you can.
Friendship
If anything, going through the business program has been a great experience. I have met some great people throughout my journey. These are lifelong friends, or connections that I feel I will continue to be in contact with throughout my life. Even with many professors I think I will continue to be in contact with. Coming to Bowling Green State University was truly the best thing I have ever done. I will always be thankful for the great friendships I have made.
