Over the years, Clemson Football has increasingly gained success. With that success comes higher demand. Each year the Clemson fan base grows and so does the student body. The Class of 2020 made a record number of undergraduate applicants. Although, the ticketing process is only getting weaker. Thankfully, students escaped "paying" for tickets this fall. In reality, students do pay for tickets, but it is included in tuition. While not paying extra is nice, not being guaranteed a ticket is not.
Students have been ever faithful to the football program and all other athletics. But, it does not seem as if we are appreciated. The out of state tuition cost for a first year undergraduate students is $45,042. The price of a suite in Death Valley is between $32,000-$42,000. I realize tuition goes towards a multitude of things: transit fee, campus recreation fee, library fee, health fee, and my personal favorite, matriculation fee. College is expensive and many students do not qualify for financial aid. So, if students are paying more than a fan pays for their suite in Death Valley, why are they quickly booted up to the top deck, or even worse, not given a ticket at all?
I am not saying we should all be given lower deck tickets. Not every student goes to the games. But, students who do choose to attend the games should always be guaranteed a ticket. I know money is all colleges seem to care about, and the students do not contribute as much as their precious donors, but at least make them feel appreciated. I would go so far to say, Clemson Football would not be where it is today without the support from the students.
Food for thought.
I can't wait to see my tigers in Memorial Stadium this Saturday. Regardless of the ticketing situation, I will always love Clemson Football. My blood runs orange. See ya at the Natty.
