Growing up, I loved the movie "Aquamarine". I also thoroughly enjoyed watching them test out all the how-to advice that they'd gotten from the mountain of teen girl magazines they had collected. After reminiscing with my sister about the movie and how funny it was, I decided that I'd put together an "Aquamarine" Guide To Getting A Guy's Attention.

1. Call and hang-up

I don't know how this will work in the modern world, but hey, why not? This always seemed more like a confidence builder, a dip your toe into the pool before diving in kind of move. Which may be why it is a vital part of the plan.

We all need a little confidence/crazy boost before we put ourselves out there, even if we are only putting ourselves out there in a small way. Getting a guy's attention should be considered an art form, as it's a tricky skill to master. You don't want to be too forward, but you still have to let them know that you're here and you're interested.

On a side note, I especially love the fact that she threw the phone out the window. #everygirlever

2. The ride by

This is one of my favorites, mostly because of how the scene was executed in the movie. I especially love the advice from Claire and Hailey, "...Act casual", "Like you didn't even remember this was his street".

If you think about it, this is actually kind of stalker-ish, but hey, if it worked in the movie, then why not?

3. The laugh and pass

They say laughter makes you more attractive or is that a smile? One key thing I've noticed about the laugh and pass is that you don't walk too far away from your target. You're trying to get his attention, so you have to stay in range of him.

In my personal opinion, this can be a tricky tactic to get right because you don't want to be seen as obnoxious, weird, etc., but it definitely seems like a great lead into the next step as you've already established your presence.

4. The fluff and retreat

This is one of the best! Go compliment him and then leave, just like that. Even something as simple as, "Wow Raymond, you're good!" will get it done.

After completing this step, you've accomplished several things. Firstly, you've given him a confidence boost. Secondly, you've managed to talk to your crush. And thirdly, you left the ball in his court. Now it's up to him to pursue you if he's interested. You've done all that you need to do.

And you know you've been successful in your attempts when you finally get that shake, stretch, and flex combo from your crush!

And there you have it, an "Aquamarine" Guide To Getting A Guy's Attention. All of these steps are pretty simple and easy enough to accomplish. Just time it right and be confident when you finally make your move. I hope you've enjoy reading this and reminiscing with me, this movie will forever be one of the best! Feel free to let us know if you've ever tried these steps and what happened!

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
