April is a wonderful time of year. Spring is finally here, with April showers giving life to the Earth and all that it holds. If only those same showers can bring my grades and GPA back to life. April, although is one of the best times of the year, is also the most stressful time for college students all across the country. April is the only time left to unearth that motivation we've been burying deep within empty beer bottles, and make an attempt to behave like intellectuals.
The pressure to get those grades up is almost worse than having a failing grade. It feels as if the entire weight of your academic career is crushing you every step of the way. Before you know it, you find yourself locked in the library and crying yourself to sleep because you have no realized maybe going out every Friday night wasn't the best idea. You wish to God that you could go back in time and submit those assignments you missed, or go to class even when you were hungover. All of a sudden April becomes your least favorite month because everything seems to be due this month, and not to mention you now have the added stress of finals on your shoulders as well. I am not sure who's idea it was to take the most beloved month of the year and turn it into a living nightmare.
At this point, I wouldn't even mind if one of these April showers turned into a monsoon and swept me away from all of this responsibility. It's hard knowing that the only reason you find yourself in this pit of due dates and papers is only through your own fault. It's as if the entire semester went by and you did not once think ahead to realize just how much April is going to suck.
As horrible as this time of year can see to you, an exhausted student, do know that you will get through this time, just as you did last year and the year before that. Somehow, we always persevere and find ourselves coming out alive at the end of April. Don't let these April showers get you down. Pick up your umbrella and walk through the rain. Do not let yourself drown. April can be a wonderful time of year, even when it doesn't feel like it at all.
