8 Apps Every Student Should Have On Their Phone

In This Article:

This is a list of eight apps that every student should have on their phone. I personally have all of these apps and use them each at least twice a week, many more than that. This lists includes Groupon, Slack, GroupMe, UNiDAYS, Chegg, Sweatcoin, Flora, and iStudiez Pro.

1. Groupon

Groupon is an app that has great deals for almost anything that you can think of. It has coupons for goods, things to do, beauty and spas, restaurants, travel, health and fitness, and other things.

2. Slack

Slack is a great platform for group projects. Slack allows one to make different threads in one group. This would be helpful if a group project has a bunch of different parts to it and different people working on each part. Each part of a project could message on their thread and the people in that group that don't have that thread saved will not be bothered with the notifications from that thread, but they would be able to see what is going on in that thread through searching for the thread.

3. Groupme

GroupMe is an app where people can make groups of people chat with that does not require everyone to have each other's numbers. One can also direct message someone on GroupMe without having their number. GroupMe is a great way to communicate with project groups or study groups in college.

4. UNiDAYS

UNiDAYS gives college students discounts at a lot of places. UNiDAYS is very easy to use and they will even send you emails about new discounts that are available.

5. Chegg

Chegg is an app where college students can buy or rent their textbooks for cheap. Chegg is very easy to use and navigate. Chegg also sends the textbooks in a reasonable amount of time.

6. Sweatcoin

Sweatcoin is a good way for students or anyone to earn a little "money" to spend on products within the app. Sweatcoin tracks your steps and for every so many steps it gives you "money" that can be used within the app to get discounts on things or to buy things. The only bad thing about sweatcoin is that it needs to be open in the background to track your steps and it cannot currently count inside steps.

7. Flora

Flora is a nice study tip for any teenager or student that wants a fun way to stay off their phone and get their work done. One just picks the amount of time that they want to set their phone down for and over that amount of time a little tree will grow. If one picks up their phone and tries to do something on it before the time is up on the countdown, then the tree dies.

8. iStudiez Pro

iStudiez Pro is my favorite app that I have downloaded. I use it for my calendar, homework, professor information, semester, holidays, and clubs that I am involved with. iStudiez Pro links up with my phone calendar, so all of my stuff is in one place. In iStudiez Pro one can have multiple classes saved and put homework down under those classes. One can also set the date that the homework is due, the priority of the assignment, and when they want a reminder about the assignment. With assignments one can also add a partner to the assignment. One can also sort their assignments by the due date, the course, or the priority. One an assignment is completed one clicks the exclamation mark and it becomes a check mark and is moved into the completed assignments tab. iStudiez Pro costs money, but there is a version that does not, but you cannot input as many classes and instructors into that one.

All of these apps have helped me greatly in my college career this far and I highly suggest them to all of you.

Creating your schedule for the upcoming semester can be an exciting process. You have the control to decide if you want to have class two-days a week or five-days a week. You get to check things off of your requirement checklist. It's an opportunity for a fresh start with new classes (which you tell yourself you'll never skip.) This process, which always starts out so optimistic, can get frustrating really quickly. Here are 25 thoughts you have when registering for classes.

10 Thoughts Of A 5th Year Senior

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.

In the 12 years since it went off the air, "Friends" continues to be adored by millions. The show that gave generations unrealistic expectations about love (or should I say lobsters?) and New York City apartments had a charming cast of characters that everyone could relate to at some point or another. Here are 17 times Ross, Monica, Joey, Chandler, Phoebe and Rachel accurately described life.

11 Times Aubrey Plaza Described Sophomore Year

"I don't want to do things. I want to do not things."

Aubrey Plaza is one of my favorite humans in Hollywood. She's honest, blunt, unapologetic, and hilarious. I just started my sophomore year of college, and found that some of her best moments can accurately describe the start of the school year.

1. When your advisor tells you that you should declare a major soon.

2. Seeing the lost and confused freshmen and remembering that was you a short year ago, and now being grateful you know the ins and outs of the campus.

3. Going to the involvement fair to sign up for more clubs knowing that you are already too involved.

4. When you actually do the reading required for the first class.

5. Seeing your friends for the first time since last semester.

6. When you're already drowning in homework during syllabus week.

7. Realizing you don't have the same excitement for classes as you did as a freshman.

8. Going home and seeing people from high school gets weirder the older you get.
