You don’t have to be an Instagram model to have a nice Instagram. In fact, your Instagram is perfect as long as it’s how you want it. Regardless, here are some apps that you probably didn’t even know existed that can aid your Instagram usage:
One That Shows Your Feed Aesthetic Without Having to Post: UNUM
Have you ever thought about posting something but you were unsure of how it would look on your profile? In the past perhaps you had to post something for half a second just to see if it looked OK, only to take it down a minute later. Maybe you have too many selfies in a row and your head is tilted the same way in every single one. I mean, you can’t help that it’s your ~angle~.
You can, however, post things in a different order to make it more aesthetically pleasing. When someone goes on your profile, you want a diverse array of pictures. This app automatically syncs all your Instagram pictures so you don’t have to do anything. You can fill in the blocks and move around the pictures to see what looks best. It’s amazing. It has changed my life TBH, and it’ll probably change yours.
One that shows you who is loyal: Followers+
Warning: this app may “trigger” you. (AKA when "Jessica" from high school unfollows you, despite the fact that you gave her rides home every day after school.) Not bitter... OK maybe a little. All jokes aside, with this app you’re able to see who unfollowed you, your engagement, and more. The mutuals are where it’s at though, shout out to the real MVPs.
One that’s basic but honestly has the best filters: VSCO Cam
It is beneficial to use the same filter for all your photos because otherwise, your feed is going to look off. Pick a look that you’re going for. Maybe you want a bright, fun page. For that, I would recommend the filter “C1”. I personally use it on all of my images. If you’re going for a more hipster look, use “T1”, the contrast is low and it makes a simple picture seem artsy. Below is practically the same image, just with these two different filters. The first image is used with "C1" and the second one is used with "T1".
Disclaimer: There’s clear controversy on the extent to which people edit their Instagram pictures in today’s social media obsessed society. Major celebrities such as Kylie Jenner, and Mariah Carey have been widely criticized for warped backgrounds behind their images. You don’t have to Photoshop yourself to have a perfect profile -- DO NOT use these to go overboard. There’s no recipe for perfection, and an app certainly isn’t the fix. You still want to be you. Use them at your own discretion:
One that gets rid of red-eye, teeth whitener, makes you tan, and more: PicsArt
I downloaded this app to help out with red-eye that kept appearing in my pictures, however, it has an assortment of features. The image below shows the use of the tanning feature:
Before:
After:
One that has under-eye brightener, blemish remover, and more: Line Camera
Maybe you've spent all week cooped up in the library, and no amount of concealer will hide the dark circles under your eyes. This app helps a sister out.
Hopefully, some of these apps may prove themselves to be useful. That is if you have storage on your phone to download them. It can be quite the "Catch 22" when your storage is taken up by over five thousand pictures, yet you don't have the space to download apps to edit them. Despite it all, I'm sure your Instagram already looks bomb, so no worries, keep calm and 'gram on.
