Moms have been supporting kids since the beginning of man kind. As centuries went by, the role of being a mother has always been a constant job. As children, we don't realize how much our mothers do for us. We are naive, still learning the necessities of life and relationships. However, as we get older, we realize how much our mothers have done and will continue to do for us.
In honor of Mother's Day, here is a "Thank You" to my mom:
Dear Mommy,
Since I was little I knew I was a "mommy's girl." I always wanted to be around you, I always was sad when you were not with me. As I got older, I went through phases where I might have seemed to resent you. I want you to know that was not my intention. I have always loved you, even if at times it may not be so apparent.
Kids these days are spoiled and much different from the way you raised me. I can never thank you enough for teaching me the meaning of discipline and respect for people. I see the way some kids talk to their mothers and it makes me sick to my stomach. No mother deserves to hear their child say horrible things to them.
I apologize for any of the times where I have been ungrateful for everything you have done for me. It is so easy to forget because it becomes a norm. I don't want to forget, you deserve to be told how amazing and great you are at being a mom.
I know I get on your nerves, it is part of my job. I know that I can be a handful and very stubborn at times. I never mean to offend you, or make you sad by it. As I am growing up I realize how much words can hurt. I don't ever want to hurt you.
You mean so much to me. You are my go to person for everything. I think about you every day, I miss you when I don't see you. I miss the comfort you give me. I miss how you always support me. I miss our long conversations. How lucky am I to have something that special to miss?
Thank you for being the best mom out there. I think the world of you, even when you are doubting yourself. I love you so much, I would do anything for you. You mean so much to me and I am forever your little girl. I strive to make you proud. I want to give you what you gave to me and more. For now this is all I have to give you (college kid money problems ya know). I know it isn't nearly enough, but I wanted you to know how much I appreciate you.
As I become an adult and begin to have my own family, I can only dream to be as great of a mother that you were to me. I am so blessed to have you in my life. I can't even imagine what it would be like without you. Thank you mom for everything. You are a gift to everyone around you, (especially me). I will love you forever.
Love,
Your Thankful Offspring
