As I've come to adapt to my post-grad life, you'd think I'd be feeling a lot calmer than before, wrong.

The truth is, everyone adjusts to this new life after college differently. Some find jobs right away while others decide to continue their education, never taking a break. Or, if you're like me, you decide to take a year off, to have a breathing period and go back to school next Fall.

My plan after college was to always go to grad school to get my M.F.A in Creative Writing.

Although as I've started the process of applying to different schools, I realized how stressful and difficult it can truly be. But if there's one thing to help me get through it it's humor and being able to laugh out loud with others and at yourself sometimes too.

One show that always gets me laughing is "Friends." We all have a certain character we compare ourselves to.

Me, I'm Monica, because not only am I a compulsive organizer and always like to have things in order, I tend to freak out over certain things. So, if you ever wondered what Monica Geller would be like when applying to grad school, you've come to the right place.

1. Deciding what you're actually going to study

2. Looking at different schools to find the one that has your program.

3. Deciding on the schools you're going to apply to

4. Starting the application process

5. Realizing how much it reminds you of when you did college applications except it's more work and difficult

6. Procrastinating the applications because it's too overwhelming

7. Realizing how broke you'll be after applying and if/when you get accepted

8. When the applications for each school is different therefore making your life harder

9. Finally submitting the applications!

10. Waiting what feels like forever to hear back and not try to freak out

Now, there are 2 scenarios that can happen here once you've submitted your application....

Scenario #1

Getting accepted into one or all of the schools you applied for!

Feeling all different kinds of emotions (mainly shocked)

Only to later realize you just willingly signed yourself up for 2-3 more years of school

Scenario #2

Getting rejected by all the schools you applied to

Feeling like a failure and resort to just wallowing around in your sorrows

Only to come to realize that you're a badass who already has a degree and decide to let it go instead

To anyone in the process of applying to grad school, myself included, good luck! And if applying to grad school and thinking about your future scares you because you feel like an actual adult, always remember these wise words from Monica Geller:

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.
