So grad school applications are out in full swing, some are closer to being due than others. for Med school or Vet school, the applications are due within the coming week. Being a senior and applying to grad schools can be challenging and scary, but most of all it can be stressful.
The first thing you have to do is find out which schools you are going to apply for. This isn't a stressful thing, but it can be time consuming when you have to go through and see if you qualify for the program with the pre-requisites. Though it is time consuming, you can figure out what programs you are interested in first and then chose from there which you apply for. It can be interesting when you are researching the programs.
The second thing you have to do is write a personal statement or a cover letter. This part can be stressful depending on if you are a good writer or not. It will take a lot of revisions to get the perfect written statement. This is something that should be written early because it can take so long to perfect.
The third thing you need to do is get your letters of recommendation, for most schools there is a three person requirement. Also, do this early because it will take all of your letters of recommendation a while to complete it.
The fourth thing you need to do is complete the application. This can be a stressful part of the application process because of the waiting it takes to hear if you have an interview or not. It can be rough completing the process and finally pushing the send button. I know I haven't gotten to the point but I'm on the final stages of completing my application. I have talked to many others and they were stressed after hitting the submit button. But after they hit the button, all of that stress disappeared.
To all of those that are applying to grad school right now, I wish you luck and I hope you get in. Hopefully things go in your favor, but if they don't do NOT give up! Applying can be stressful, but don't let it get the better of you. Don't let the stress take over your life, live it and push through. This stress will soon pass.
