When Apple first introduce the Apple Watch, people were so hyped for the new product. There were lots of controversial things about the price of the products, Yes! Products! Apple released different types of Apple Watch and the three categories that it falls into are Apple Watch Sport, Apple Watch, and Apple Watch Edition (crazy expensive). I wanted one so bad, fortunately for me, my old G-Shock broke (unknown reason) so my parents agreed to let me buy one while they were on sale. I got the Stainless Steel Apple Watch and I can’t see myself without it every day.
Lots of people asked me: “What is it like to have the Apple Watch?” or “Is it worth it to own one?”... My answer will always be yes!
Here’s my reasoning behind this high-tech product, but before we really go into it, let’s go into the Apple Watch a bit. First of all, it’s a watch. Second, of all, it was made by Apple. That’s all of what we need to know about it. There are plenty of things I can go into about the Apple Watch, but this time, I’m only giving you the three most important function of it.
So how did the watch helps me throughout my daily college life? When it comes to this question, the first most useful functionality of the watch is obviously telling time. Second, of all, it reminds me things that I’m suppose to do. For example, my homework, laundry, rental, and heck, even when I'm supposed to stand up, instead of sitting on my chair and Netflix all day. That function works by connecting via Bluetooth to your iPhone, collecting information from there. Next function (also my favorite) the Activity rings. The Activity rings consist of three rings. The biggest ring represent Movement, the second ring represents Exercise, and the third ring represents Standing. My goal and possibly your goal is to fill those rings completely with their color to show that you’re living a healthy life. Also, you can share your Activity rings to others that also have an Apple Watch, so you can compete with each other, to see who can surpass who. Adding a little bit of spice to your life.
I just blab about some of my favorite features, but here’s the second most important one, Notification Center. This may sounds weird, but hear me out, whenever you have a notification from your phone like mails, Instagram, text message, Amber alert,... but you’re in a classroom, focusing on your studies, you can't just take your phone out and check in the middle of the session. This is where the Apple Watch comes to the rescue. All you have to do is lightly tap on your Watch or turn the Watch face towards you, the notifications will show you the title and a peak of the content for you decide whether the notifications are important or not. If you don’t like it, just cover your hand over the surface of the Watch and it will disappear, if you do want to see the contents, just tap the notification and it will show you. The good thing is that it doesn’t make any noise during class, it just vibrates on your wrist to notify what you’ve been missing. A quiet yet useful feature to have. Just imagine, you don’t have to pull out your phone and sneaking behind the professor back to use it anymore. It will just tell you on your wrist.
The last feature that I can’t resist using every day in my life is texting. Let’s think about it, how do you text someone through a watch? Let's say that you receive a text from your girlfriend/boyfriend asking would you want to go for a cup of coffee or a date night. You’re in class and can’t use your phone but you have the Watch. When the Watch receives a text, it will give you the option either to reply or dismiss. If you choose to reply, they will give you four options. Option number one: use your voice. By tapping the microphone option, it uses the dictation to dictate what you’re saying and input it in text form. Second option: send an emoji, just press the emoji simple and send. Next option: scribble, by using your finger to write on the screen, you’re finger writing will transform into letters and there, you can write whatever you want. The last option which I like most: Sketching. That’s right, you can sketch whatever you want like a heart, bird, plane, flowers,... and when you send it, the sketch will slowly turn into the shape that you drew when the other person you send that sketch to receive it. You can also choose answer options that the Watch gives you.
Those are just a fraction of what the Apple Watch can do for me, the more I use it, the more I learn about it. It helps my healthy life, social life and college life. Get one, and it will become your daily basis object that you can’t live without.
