Apple Picking On A Farm

My must-do every fall in Michigan.

So I finally went apple picking. It is a must every fall that I'm here in Michigan. I love apple picking, especially in Michigan. Here are just a few of my favorite things about it.

1. Apples

Apples. Let me just get the obvious out of the way first; who wouldn't like to pick huge, juicy (or green and sour, if you'd prefer) apples? Also, like every other fruit orchard, sure, you have to pay what you picked to take home, but snacking is free! I'd advise to go with an empty stomach around mealtime. That way, you can get full really quick (at least I did with two big apples). There's also so many types. If you'd like a recommendation, HONEYCRISP. GET NOTHING ELSE. (Just kidding, the other apples are lovely too—nah.)

2. Petting farms (goats)

Do you have no pets, but want to pet a furry animal without the work of taking care of it? The petting farm is free at most farms, as far as I've experienced. You can pet bunnies, kittens, (...chickens? I'm not sure) and goats. From different farms I've been to, there's almost always goats. With their little round bellies and rectangular eyes, (don't even get me started on the cuteness of the baby kids) they're definitely fun to watch and take pictures of. Is the goat not interested in facing you? No problem. Go get a little handful of feed in your hands, and you'll have, not just one goat interested in you, but (at least!) FIVE goats competing for your attention.

3. Corn Mazes

Got lots of time to kill? Try to find your way out of the corn maze! Personally, I haven't had the time to do this yet (maybe another time), but I've seen the guides. From my perspective, it's better to just go in without it. (Granted, I suck at directions and maps. You can ask anyone that knows me.) I recommend this "fun" activity for people who like a challenge, have some patience (which I don't), and aren't preoccupied with the rows of apple orchards (all the trees look the same).

Corn mazes, apples, and goats...what's not to love? I hope you get to experience this wonderfulness at some point in your life. (....Just not the corn maze. This advice is for my fellow short-tempered, directionally-challenged-but-I-don't-want-to-admit-it people out there.)

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!

RBF, or resting b*tch face, is a serious condition that many people suffer from worldwide. Suffers are often bombarded with daily questions such as "Are you OK?" and "Why are you so mad?" If you have RBF, you've probably had numerous people tell you to "just smile!"
