Something I’ve pondered quite a bit since I started college is technology and it’s many uses. The obvious leader in the current world of technolgy is Apple. They are relatively new to the realm of technological innovation (specifically phones and tablets) but they are surpassing all other companies, everyone else is just playing catch up. As a millennial I surely get criticism for how much I use technology, but is it really my fault? I was raised on Microsoft PCs, sidekicks, and flip phones ever since I was in 5th grade.
The first iPhone came out in January 9, 2007, that day changed the world. Although I was only eleven when this very important day happened, I remember it like it was yesterday. No one really anticipated this product would change the world of innovation as we know it , but it surely did. I remember how excited everyone was about this new phone that was just a screen, home button, and lock button. With minimal capabilities it really was not anything to get worked up about.
Nine years later, everyone and their grandparents ( my grandma actually does) have this lovely device and says nothing but great things about it. Apple created a wide range of products along with iPhone and original Macintosh computer. These devices have a variety of capabilities that have impacted many of our lives in positive ways. Whether it be texting by voice (Siri), the Nike+ app telling us how our fitness is improving, or Temple Run to take away our boredom, we really cannot ask much more from our cell phone.
Another attribute that comes along with iPhones helping us out with simple activities of everyday life is how they know literally everything about us. Apple could completely ‘Big Brother’ the human race if they wanted to because we failed to read the terms and conditions. I know this concept probably scares you and you thought we got rid of communism many years ago but the possibilities that come with that new iPad you just bought are endless my friends, it's frightening how much information Apple has access to. Now instead of worrying about how you cracked your screen or how the iPhone 7 does not have a headphone jack you should ‘look-up’ and worry about the world outside of your 2.64 x 5.44 inch screen. There are bigger problems out there in the real world that need fixing, we need to stop snapchatting and get on it.
