Well, everyone, it took decades to happen, but Apple is official plum out of ideas. Each time the iPhone is released, they advertise it as the best and most amazing phone they have ever made. Until this recent release, they were right. Each iPhone was incrementally better, bigger, faster, more advanced. Now, with the new release we have a regression.
The new iPhone actually had FEWER features than the old one. How do you ask? It's new and improved! But it's not. Not only is it more expensive, you also HAVE to have Bluetooth headphones to listen to music. Before, you had the option. No longer. Unless you have a wireless audio device and want to sacrifice audio quality, you're crap out of luck. You see, apple realizes that they are far behind the eight ball when it comes to innovations in phone technology. The biggest innovation in recent times saw a Motorola smartphone being released with the ability to switch out batteries on the fly without shutting off your phone. Even cooler than that, this same phone (Moto Z and its variants) can attach an external speaker to the back to improve sound quality, attach a camera with actual mechanical zoom and improved lens quality, and finally attach a projector to make a portable home theater. All with the same phone, and all without any extra cords or paraphernalia. Put that into perspective with apple downgrade of their recent phone, and you have a company that is seriously behind the times.
The only improvement that has been made is on the iPhone 7 Plus that now can shoot in slightly higher quality, and their black iPhones are now water resistant. Congrats iPhone, you have managed to do what Motorola and Samsung did two years ago. So, with all of this in mind, I rest my case when it comes to the lack of imagination and innovation that is present at apple these days. I spoke with my father about where apple would go after Steve Jobs passed, and we both agreed that he was the driving force behind the creativity and new ideas, this new iPhone merely serves to showcase that.
So this is my call for apple to step up and show what they can do. Innovate. Create. Be amazing. Make the beautiful devices we all know you're capable of. I don't hate apple, nor do I want to see them fail. I am pointing out their inadequacies and showcasing how much work their is to be done if they want to be truly competitive and have a market share outside of their still-formidable cult following. Step it up apple, show us what you can do.
