As a kid, one of my favorite things about Halloween was "booing" my neighborhood friends. This term may be familiar to many of you, but for those who don't know, booing is simply putting a little Halloween spunk in the ole ding-dong-ditch routine. The spunk comes from leaving a Halloween treat at your friends door -- it may come in the form of candy, candles, or anything that invites Halloween delight. The treat is always accompanied by a poem, a sign to hang on your victims front door, and instructions on how to pass the boo on for more friends to enjoy. From there, you can watch as the signs that you left with the treat, begin to pop up on all of the front doors around your town.
As much as I love this old-school Halloween tradition, last year I decided to spike the spunk with my own little twist. I decided that instead of booing people, I should start boozing people. The same rules apply as booing, but the only change I made was obviously adding some spirits. I was so stoked about my brilliant idea and proceeded to booze a bunch of my friends with dark red wines, pumpkin beers, and of course, candy. I also created a set of instructions, a sign and a cute poem to accompany the goodies.
Unfortunately, last year, with only my roommate and I starting the tradition, it did not go very far. So, I wanted to share my idea with all of you, this Halloween, in the hopes that this may become a new college tradition for everyone to enjoy!
