The End Is Near BEWARE!!!
Sounds like the ravings of a mad woman, don’t It?
With everything happening in the world, do you ever get the End of Days feeling? Like this is the calm before The End. I don’t mean to sound like a mad woman, but all the death, and destruction, and chaos, doesn’t it feel kind of apocalyptic?
I keep waiting to hear a horn from the heavens, or cracks in the street leading to hell. Or worse, zombies.
You may think I’m crazy, which I am. But I keep thinking this would be the perfect time to end the world. You know, with everything that’s happening: Hurricane Irma and Harvey showing us who’s boss, wildfires, a president who's power hungry, and one step away from mass genocide, murder, the rich trying to get rid of the poor, the KKK somehow are relevant again, earthquake magnitude of 8.2, the news (well sh*t, it’s the news), etc.
I’ve read a lot and have seen a lot about the Apocalypse, and to be honest, doesn’t it seem like we are in the beginning stages of the end? For example, in Norse Mythology, Ragnarök told a series of future events like natural disasters (a world under water), flood (Irma and Harvey, anyone?), a great battle, and death of many (Wikipedia). Or, how about in the bible, the Book of Revelation, which included a foretelling vision, seven seals opened, death, famine, wrath, natural disasters, evil men (Trump anyone), creatures and demons rising above, blah blah blah, etc. (Wikipedia).*
*(I probably should tell you I had a project a couple of months ago comparing the two, I totally freaked myself out and became a bit obsessed)
Also, even our society is obsessed with the Apocalypse. Which brings up a question: Why are we so obsessed with the end of the world? I mean, just look at how many movies, television shows, and books are made off this subject line. We are basically preparing for the end. Think about the movies and shows right now: Thor: Ragnarok, The 100, Walking Dead, Supernatural, Geostorm, The Last Man on Earth, Z Nation, The Strain; the list goes on and on. I can’t even tell you how many dystopian books I’ve read: The Hunger Games, The Maze Runner, Divergent, oh and an oldie, The Giver! And those of you who don’t know what dystopian literature is, it's a genre that explores a dark and rather nightmarish world, i.e. apocalyptic (Questia).
Then I think, with all this crap happening in the world, maybe we deserve it. Maybe we deserve the end of civilization; we have done nothing to deserve this world. We have done so much to each other in the name of hate. So why, why should we keep this world when we can’t even protect it and love it and love each other?...Or, this could be just the world doing what it does, like climate control. We don’t appreciate anything, so nature is threatening us, hitting us where it hurts: natural disasters, death, and carnage sounds about right. Or, the apocalypse, or just climate control.
