A Letter Of Appreciation To My Very Best Friend

An Open Letter To My Best Friend

I appreciate you more than you will ever know. I have never known a friendship like the one that we have, and I honestly don't know what I would do if you weren't a part of my life. From nights spent staying up way too late and watching Netflix, to afternoons spent on the couch eating giant bowls of ice cream, there is not a day that goes by that I am not thankful for you and the things that you do for me. We are two wonderfully mismatched peas in a pod.

I want you to know that I will always be here for you. No matter what it is, or what time of day it is, I will always be here. And I want you to know that you can talk to me about anything. I don't ever want you to be afraid to talk to me, about absolutely anything. I wanna know all about your life. I wanna know about that dog you saw at the mall that was so cute that it made you cry. I wanna know about that horrifying lady that was mean to you at Walmart. I want you to share your stories with me. Mostly so that we can make fun of the jerks that we encounter together.

You are an amazing human being, and I hope you know that. You inspire me to be a better person and a better friend. I hope you realize how amazing you are. Please know your self-worth, and if you ever need a confidence booster let me know. Because sitting around, drinking hot chocolate, and telling you how amazing you are sounds like an evening well spent to me! Especially if there are movies involved.

So embrace your independence and your individuality. You are an incredible human being, and you deserve the world. Thank you for being my person, and my best friend.

Friendship. It's defined as the state of being attached to another person by feelings of affection or personal regard, but what really is friendship? Is it that occasional hallway talk with that one person who always manages to cheer you up? Is it that relationship you have with someone where they can be gone for a long period of time, but when they come back, it's like they never left? Is it spending every waking hour with someone, and knowing every detail about their life? Is it the relationship that's filled with fighting, but filled with even more resolution? I've learned that it's all of these things, and every friendship is different. It's a beautifully dysfunctional mess that should always be cherished and never be taken for granted.
