You are probably filled with either excitement, anxiety, a touch of sadness, or maybe all of those feelings combined. Trust me, it is all normal. Anything you feel has been felt by every freshman who has started college.

In high school, they make college seem like this alternate universe filled with the unknown and a massive list of expectations you must meet. Honestly, a lot of teachers made it seem as though it was scary.

It really isn't.

It will be a very momentous time in your life. I will not say it will be the best years of your life because you still have so much of your life to live after college. But you will experience the most change in not just your surroundings but within yourself.

You will be pushed past all of the boundaries you had kept since you were younger. Whether it's from being put in more social settings, living on your own, or studying so hard, your brain feels like mush. You will be responsible for so much more.

You will meet so many people that will have a lasting impact on your life, possibly even people who will wind up at your wedding one day.

You will make so many endless amazing memories filled with happiness, love, and laughter. There will also be moments that aren't the best that hold frustration, anger, and devastation, especially when it comes to finals week. But all of these moments will mold you into the amazing person you are and will be.

The thing about college is that you can restart. You are able to forget about your past or reinvent yourself. You have the freedom to do as you please, do what makes you happy or genuinely interests you.

You have the power to pave the way for a career you've always wanted. Your life is now in your hands.

It may be the most terrifying thing you can think of, but it's time for you to start a life of your own. Just know it's okay to make mistakes and wrong turns. It's okay to transfer schools if you are unhappy, or commute from home, or go far away. Whatever you decide is perfectly okay.

You got this. There is absolutely nothing to worry about because you will do everything just right, just the way it's supposed to be.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.

Cambio

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
