Being born and raised in Maryland, I am a huge lover of my state and all the wonderful things it has to offer. Being from Maryland there are a few things that all Marylanders can relate too, and here are 10 of those.

1. You know a good crabcake

Maryland residents love our seafood. As our state Crustacean, the Maryland blue crab is very important to us. That is why we know a good crabcake when we taste one. No matter where you go, there is nothing like a Maryland Crab Cake. Trust me, I've had plenty.

2. You own tons of Maryland flag clothing

Maryland pride is real and very strong, as a resident of this fruitful state, I have tons of Maryland flag clothing. I have a tie, a scarf and a few pairs of socks. The pride is real.

3. We love Old Bay

I am a huge fan of Old Bay, and I'm sure I'm not the only one. We use Old Bay on everything we eat, chicken, pizza, bagels, I could go on. If you've never had Old Bay Wings, you should try them. Your life will be changed.

4. Orioles Games and Pickles

Summer is my favorite time of the year because I am a huge Orioles fan. Along with my many trips to Camden Yards each year, I always have to go to Pickles Bar. It's a yearly tradition and makes the whole experience more exciting.

5. H20

Everyone remembers going to H20 at least once. For those not from Maryland, H20 is a 21 and under dance club in Ocean City Maryland. I remember going in high school to their many foam parties. H20 was all the rage in 2009!

6. Natty Bohs

I can admit that Natty Bohs are kind of gross and not my ideal choice of an adult beverage. As a fellow Maryland resident, while most of us agree on that, we still have some connection to the infamous beer. It's a symbol of our state, it keeps us connected and the best part is there are riddles underneath each bottled cap.

7. We're Huge Ravens' Fans

I personally cannot relate to this because I don't watch Football, but Marylanders are huge Ravens' fans. Purple pride is in full swing once football season begins. From tailgates, football parties, to painting our faces purple to show support, there's no doubt about Maryland's love for the Baltimore Ravens.

8. We Say Hon A Lot

"Hon," short for honey, is a term of endearment, and here in Maryland, we call everyone hon. There's even a "Honfest" in the summer. From big hair, cat-eyed glasses to outlandish clothing, Honfest is a way to celebrate women, and over the years, it has become bigger and bigger. Come on down to Baltimore Hons!

9. 695 Is Evil

Everyone from Maryland can agree that 695 is awful. It's one of the major highways here in Maryland and connects to almost everything we have to get too, but it's the highway filled with never-ending construction and backed up traffic constantly.

10. We sing the National Anthem better than Fergie

The National Anthem was written by Francis Scott Key who was from Maryland, and when it comes to singing this beautiful song, we take it seriously. So serious that we sing "O" louder than any of the other words in the song.

No matter what, I love my state. It's where I grew up, it's taught me a lot and it's where I've made some amazing memories.

Sorority
Rebekah Lee

I remember my freshman year oh so well. I remember feeling terrified the night before orientation. The one thing that I dreaded the most was not the new people, the new environment, or even the academic pressure. I was dreading having to talk to sorority girls about Recruitment. I remember cutting off and avoiding any Rho Gamma/Panhellenic Officer that came my way during First Week. I looked at them like they had asked me to cut my arm off whenever they asked me if I wanted to rush. To be honest, I did not even know what rush was, but I knew that I did NOT want to be a part of it. To me, it was dumb. It was a waste of money. It was a waste of my time.

And guess what? I did not rush my freshman year. I spent the first half of my freshman year isolating myself from everyone on campus. I spent all of my time in the library, and then (since I was a commuter) went back home once my work was finished.

Tiana would no doubt be disappointed in the food our cafeteria has to offer.

And hopefully she would cook for everyone in her dorm.

She definitley would not take any 8:00 am classes because she would be up late baking and cleaning up the communal kitchen that are available in every dorm.

The dynamics of any friend group are usually determined by the personalities which make it up. Chances are, while personalities may overlap, each person in your friend group holds his or her own place. It is the differences which bring the groups together and keep them functioning. No matter how functionally dysfunctional your friend group may be, if you're anything like me, you feel absolutely blessed to have found such a wonderful group of humans to call "your people."
