If you watched the finals of the 2018 World Cup (which you totally should have, btw), you might have noticed this dashing fellow.
This, dear friends, is Antoine Griezmann. Number 7 on the French National Team and number 7 on Athlética Madrid, and number 1 in my heart (I'm sorry. I know that was corny, but I couldn't help myself). During the final match of the World Cup, Griezmann scored one of the goals that kept France in the lead finishing up the match and guaranteed them the win!
Now, I'm a huge fan of Mr. Griezmann for multiple reasons. The first, you just gotta look at his face. It's gorgeous. And he has tattoos, which I am a major sucker for.
Second, he's French. I love the French. Their food, their personalities, their language, all of it is beautiful to me. And it's super cool that Antoine Griezmann is French (hence the reason he's on the French national team, but I digress). In addition to this, Griezmann can speak three languages: French, Spanish, and a bit of English. Talk about a triple threat in the languages. And while he plays on the French national team, he also plays in Spain, so he has the ability to speak in two languages incredibly often.
Not to mention the fact that he is one heck of a football player (I mean, soccer for us Americans). He says that he's influenced a lot by David Beckham when he plays, but he's also a footballer all his own. He mixes Spanish and French tactics in his game, which makes him one heck of a threat. He's always working the field and he's always so fun to watch. He really brings the energy to the game, and always has me on the edge of my seat when I'm watching him (which is as often as I can).
And finally, and perhaps my favorite part about Antoine Griezmann, is his fangirl level obsessions. David Beckham is a major inspiration to Griezmann, and it's the reason that he wears long sleeves and the number 7 in his games. As a fangirl myself, I identify with Griezmann's obsessions myself (I mean, I'm writing an article about how obsessed I am with him, so I guess it makes sense). In addition to Beckham, Griezmann is also a huge fan of Derrick Rose, who I had never heard of until recently, and he plays for my home state's basketball team (Go Timberwolves!). Any way you slice it, Griezmann is the level of fangirl I aspire to be one day.
So, move over David Beckham. Griezmann might be inspired by you and be a huge fan, but he is a person all his own and he has a major future ahead of him.
And I'm kind of in love with him, if that makes any difference.
