There are so many things in this world in which we live that cause our days to be filled with and surrounded by difficulties of all kinds. This can come in the form of children, homework, regular work, errands, etc. The thing that makes these difficulties so frustrating is that they come at the worst times to interrupt, disrupt and irritate your day to no end. Another issue these difficulties raise is what I like to call stacking. They like to stack on one another like an old-school dog pile. I believe many people come across the phrase “When it rains, it pours!” when talking about the imminent difficulties of life that will continue to pile on, until you feel as though you cannot handle it anymore.
Well, let me just say that you are not alone! So many times in my life, I feel weighed down by the burden of difficulties around me. I like to call them "the antics of life," because they remind me of small creatures from a game I used to play as a child. While they resembled goblins and didn't do too much, they would come in swarms, in numbers I couldn't even begin to describe. The creatures were dangerous only in large groups, and they always sounded like they were laughing. So similar to that of a child playing a prank on someone, hence the word "antics."
The antics that gang up on us in life aren't always large, but are more likely a pile of the small things that just end up getting to us and driving us wild, with their insignificance to our daily routine. Things that seem so easy can become extremely difficult when there are twenty of them to do in the course of… well, not a enough time.
While I feel as though there are many of you out there reading this who say, “Well, I'm great at time management and getting all of those pesky chores out of the way,” to you I say, “Good for you!” I, unfortunately, am not one of those people. Having 15 things to do in an hour that would take me 10 minutes each thing would drive me up a wall. I'm a completionist: I must complete everything 100 percent before moving forward, so not completing a task in time leaves me irritated and flustered for the rest of the day.
For those of you out there who feel the same way I do, or feel the stress and irritation that all the little antics bring, I say, “Thank you for not letting me go through this alone!” One of the worst feelings in this world is the feeling of loneliness. Knowing that there are others out there feeling the same stress and irritation gives support and comfort to those struggling in life. Just know, to all of those with the antics of life nibbling at your ankles, you're not alone, and more importantly, you will finish what you have to, because you are awesome and we all support what you're doing! Because we probably have to do it, too.
