The 5 Biggest Anticipations of Snapchat
The Daily Dot

Snapchat is a very popular app used by many people around the globe. From the continent of Africa to all the way to Iceland, this app is utilized by so many human beings that it's unbelievable. There are filters for almost every location you travel to and you will never know people that don't know about Snapchat. Although this app is super fun and comfortable to use, there are very big anticipations associated with it. I'm sure you can relate to at least one of these anticipations while using the riveting social media app.

1. Snapchat Streaks

Snapchat streaks are probably one of the most fun parts of Snapchat, however effort and some work is involved in keeping your streak on this popular social media app. To get a streak on Snapchat, you and whoever you're getting the streak with must snap each other at least once a day. Once you get to day 3, the streak begins, and if you want to keep it, you must snap the other person once a day. The bad part about streaks is that if the other person isn't committed to it, an hourglass can appear. This hourglass symbolizes that you're about to lose your streak with the other person and this can cause lots of anticipation in someone, so don't lose the streak! Although most of the times, the other person breaks the streak by accident, people get very irate by this because the streak means so much to them.

2. Leaving someone on read on Snapchat

Leaving someone on read means to not respond to them, even when you have the read the text or designated thing the person has sent you. This is possibly one of the worst things you can do on Snapchat as it makes the other person annoyed that you have the read whatever they sent you, but have not taken the time to reply to them. In iMessage, on the other hand, you can disable read recipients so the other person does not know if you've read their text or not. However, on Snapchat, this is NOT an option. The anticipation is real when someone leaves you on read on Snapchat and this can even cause conflicts in friendship if it goes too far. Yes, people are that desperate. The best thing to do, which will avoid anticipation, would be to just take some time to reply to the person. Come on, it doesn't take that much time.

3. The Best Friend List

On Snapchat, there is a best friend list for the people you snap the most on Snapchat. Obviously, most of the times, you will have a streak with these people. There are different friend emojis for people that you snap which include Super BFF, BFF, Besties, BFs, Their BF but..., Mutual Besties, and Mutual BFs. People that you are the bestest friend with will appear at the top most of the list and this list can only contain up to 7 people. If you are at the top of someone's list, you will most likely have a strong friend emoji with the other person. This can be very anticipating as some people do not want certain people on their list while others will want more people on their list. Furthermore, this may cause conflicts in friendship as someone may have someone on their best friend list who's not even their best friend in real life.

4. Snapchat Stories

Snapchat stories are probably the epiphany of using this very popular social media app. People post things that are beautiful, or rather interesting, on their stories for everyone to see and possibly comment on. However, this can be very tricky for Snapchat users as deciding what to post on your story is very difficult sometimes. Controversy can also happen because some people will not think some things are "story-worthy" while some people will think it is. Therefore, the anticipation of Snapchat stories is quite real.

5. Snapchat Maps

Snapchat maps, a new feature introduced by the app, let's you track down where your friend is in the world with just one tap. If you enable your location on the app, the Snap-Map will let your friends see exactly where you are and exactly what time you were on the app last. This causes unnecessary problems because if two of your friends are in the same location and don't want you to know, you can find out if they are together if their location is enabled on their device. If you have not been on the app for a long time and you have your location enabled, the app will show you in a sleeping mode as well. The feature can also tell your friends if you're traveling by car or by plane, or if you're walking to some other destination. Although this new feature is very cool, Snapchat has done it again with introducing something very risky to its users. So, be careful, and disable your location if you know you have snarky friends around the corner.

Now, with listing the 5 biggest anticipations of Snapchat, the app is still very beneficial as it helps you communicate very easily through snaps, chats, and more. Sometimes the anticipations of the app may hold us back, but the app is too great to let go of. Snapchat, thank you for this new realm of social media and all the anticipations and features that come with it.

6 Signs You Are An English Major

There are various stereotypes about college students, most of which revolve around the concept of your major. Unfortunately, we often let stereotypes precede our own judgments, and we take what information is immediately available to us rather than forming our own opinions after considerable reflection. If I got a dollar for every time my friends have made a joke about my major I could pay my tuition. One stereotype on campus is the sensitive, overly critical and rigid English major. Here are six telltale signs you are one of them.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

Books were always about understanding for me, about learning the way someone else sees, about connection.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.
