The ball has dropped. The resolutions have been made (and hopefully not broken yet.) So...now what? Well get excited, because 2017 is pulling out all of the stops when it comes to entertainment. Here are just a few of the titles you won't want to miss this year.
Movies
"Baywatch"
"Out with the new and in with the reboots" is the motto for 2017. First on the list is "Baywatch", starring shirtless Zac Efron and shirtless Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson running around the beach saving lives. Count me in. The trailer alone has given me the inspiration to (think about) getting in shape.
"Beauty and the Beast"
The highly anticipated live-action version of "Beauty and the Beast" is finally coming this year. Starring the always magical Hermione Granger Emma Watson, it's the ultimate Disney fantasy come to life. I'll be singing and crying along in the theater.
"Fifty Shades Darker"
Not to put any unneeded pressure on Valentine's Day, but...who are you going to see the new "Fifty Shades" movie with??? After a Grey-free 2016, the infamous franchise will finally be back on the big screen this February. And if it's anything like the first movie, we'll also be blessed with a killer soundtrack. To tide you over, Taylor Swift and Zayn Malik have released the movie's first song, "I Don't Wanna Live Forever."
" Star Wars: Episode VIII"
Seriously, what did we even do in years without "Star Wars" releases? Episode eight is due in late 2017, and although there isn't much information out yet, we already can't wait. After the heartbreaking passing of the great Carrie Fisher in December, this movie will be even more special. Fisher had already wrapped filming before her death, so expect General Leia to make one last, magnificent appearance.
Music
Niall Horan
Directioners, rejoice! The Irish cutie and former member of One Direction (may it rest in peace) is launching his solo career this year. Date and title are TBD, but judging by the first single, "This Town", he's going to have us crushing all year long.
Lorde
Nearly four years after her triumphant breakout album, Lorde promises that she's back in 2017. The singer has been keeping her fans in the loop via Twitter. But don't expect the sixteen-year-old New Zealander we fell in love with last time around, because according to her, a lot has changed.
Ed Sheeran
After a year-long social media hiatus, Ed surprised us all this past December when he tweeted a mysterious blue image. Fans immediately suggested that he has an album in the works. I'd bet money on a 2017 release.
