Anti-aging. Normally, the first thing that comes to mind is some ad on television, with a woman who looks young, talking about how much she loves said product for keeping youthfulness intact. And yet, it's all nonsense. Anti-aging isn't a real. There is no product in the world that will keep you looking twenty or thirty, and that's perfectly okay.
Our society has such an ingrained idea that aging is something horrible, something that all (mostly) women should try to put a stop to. But why? Why are we shaming women for aging? Why are we so obsessed with youth? We have ads like this:
That call anti-aging a battle, as if making a normal process such as growing older seem like the villain. Perhaps it's because our society is so obsessed with trying to form women into a perfect ideal. Society romanticizes a young, skinny woman, and many women buy into this.
There are many middle-aged women who are wasting their money on these useless anti-aging products, being promised to look ten years younger. We need to stop putting our values and views of others based off of their appearances. We need to end the "battle" against anti-aging. Women should not have to feel ugly because they are aging the way nature intended them to. We're all beautiful the way we are, and we shouldn't be made to feel like we have to be forever young to be beautiful.
