Another year. Another adventure.

Reasons I'm Ready To Be Back At School
Molly Sue Harmon

The day has come. It's time to go back to school. Boy, I am PUMPED. I'm so ready to move in for so many reasons.

1. Friends

I'm SO EXCITED to see all my friends again. I'm ready for some late night Cook Out runs and Walmart trips. I can't wait to have study sessions and to goof off around campus. I've met some of the greatest people at my school. They have changed me, challenged me, supported me and most importantly, they've loved me for who I am. I am eternally thankful for all of them.

2. Classes

Yes, that's right. I am excited for classes. While yes, the work load can be a lot. It's stressful at times and comes with a lot of hard work; but I love learning. I love the feeling I get when I take a test and do well and know that I'm retaining information. I love my major and I'm excited to get back into the swing of things.

3. Dancing

This summer I didn't get the chance to dance very often because I was a camp counselor. So, I'm so excited to get back to my dance classes and to be back with dance team. I can't wait to be able to go to the dance studio at a random time, turn off the lights, put on some music, dance to whatever I feel like and not care if anyone is watching.

4. Independence

Don't get me wrong. I love my parents and I love being home. But there is something about being able to tell myself when I should be in bed and deciding if I want applesauce, brownies or my leftover Cook Out for breakfast. I enjoy getting to make my own decisions and learn how to be responsible for myself. College gives you a good place to be able to make decisions and take risks, but still in the security of knowing you can call your parents and ask for help.

5. Meeting new people

I LOVE meeting new people and making new friends. A new year of school means a new group of people to meet. I'm excited to see what the new freshman class brings and the transfer students, too!

So, bring it on, Catawba. I'm ready for another year of living and loving with ya.

xoxo

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. These are eleven thoughts that I have as a writer while writing my stories.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
