The light at the end of that fall semester tunnel is near. Holiday decorations are up, Starbucks holiday flavors are out, and winter vacation plans are up in the air. Congrats, you've finished another semester of college.
Whether you're a senior or not, completing a semester of college is a great accomplishment. All of the hard work you did over the past four months has finally paid of. The anxiety, tears, stress and all-nighters were totally worth it. You should be proud of yourself.
This semester was important to me because it was the semester I declared my major. It was the semester I finally fell in love with my major. I finally took classes that were interesting. My art class was more like an anxiety reliever, allowing me to only focus on the present, and create some really awesome pieces. But overall, I found myself this semester. I found great friends, passions, and purpose. And it's a little sad, because it may or may not have been my last fall semester of college.
College is a point in your life where everything will fall apart only for everything to fall into place. You'll spend time wondering what to choose as a major, what not to eat at the cafeteria, meeting new people, and finding out who you are as an individual. Each semester finished is one step closer in completing your college era. It's one step closer to the real world and pursuing your dreams.
College has taught me many things. For example:
1. You actually have to study, even if you're naturally smart.
2. You'll create lifelong friendships.
3. You are in charge of yourself, for once. Time management and self-control are a little harder than what you thought.
4. Sushi is your best friend.
5. Tequila is your enemy.
6. Getting sick alone sucks. It's a task to keep up your health, both physical and mental.
7. Expect a meltdown over petty things like an exam.
8. Working hard pays off.
9. Always be a good person to others.
10. It's all worth it.
As another semester of college ends, my future is that much closer, and so is yours. Cherish the little moments each semester, because they're preparing you for the rest of your life.
Happy holidays, study hard, and congratulations on another semester down.
