Valentine's Day: A malicious holiday created to make lonely people depressed and loved people possessed.

February 14th is the day single people despise more than life itself. Valentine's Day, or Single Awareness Day depending on who you ask, is a day that shouldn't even be considered a holiday. What makes it a holiday? There is nothing special about showing someone love and affection. You should do that every day if you truly love them.

Valentine's Day is a lame excuse for half-ass boyfriends to make up for their lack of affection and then continue to act the same the rest of the year. Why do we accept this? Nothing screams "I'm an awful boyfriend but here's things I spent money on that I could also get you any other day of the year" more than chocolate and roses on February 14th. It just makes me sick to think that society accepts these monetary displays of love and affection one day a year rather than every day.

So what would happen if we all said screw it and didn't celebrate this so called holiday? Many companies would lose out on business but maybe then we would all realize that we could do the same thing on March 16th as February 14th and it would be just as meaningful. The day of the year shouldn't determine when you decide to show someone you love them. If you love that person, you can show them every day. Valentine's Day is just your scapegoat for being a terrible partner.

This Valentine's Day, boycott the special fancy dinners, bouquets of roses and boxes of heart shaped chocolate. Spend some time with your parents or best friends. Show those people that you love them. Your significant other gets your love and attention every other day of the year, your friends might miss you.

If you're single, take yourself out! Treat yourself to a manipedi or some retail therapy. Grab your favorite takeout on the way home and bingewatch your favorite television show on Netflix or Hulu and enjoy yourself. You don't need a man or women to make you feel special on this day. You can be alone on Valentine's Day and you won't be labeled as anything other than an independent woman.

Valentine's Day is just another day of the year for corporate America to make money off of us. Do something for yourself and save time and money by not doing anything.

Happy Valentine's Day.

The Perks of Being a Girl

“I just want you to know that you’re very special… and the only reason I’m telling you is that I don’t know if anyone else ever has.”

As frustrating and annoying as it can be, being a girl is really awesome. We are beautiful inside and out. Not a lot of people may see that, but girls have a ton of amazing qualities.

We have unique flirting skills.

Us girls have a significant way to flirt with other people. Even when we say the most random or awkward things, we have a way of making everything sound cute and planned. It’s just a gift; we’re good like that.

Whether you are writing a ten-page paper, studying for a biology exam, or struggling through math homework, you somehow find the strength to get to the library to get it all done. Let's just say you have a lot of different thoughts that run through your head during the many hours you spend in the lovely library.

We Heart It

Over the past decade, television has undergone a very crucial transition: the incorporation of female lead characters. Since it's a known fact that girls actually do run the world (Beyonce said so herself), it's time for the leading ladies of the small screen to get some credit. Without these characters, women would still be sitting in the background of our favorite shows. These women are not only trailblazers for female empowerment, but role models for women worldwide. With that, here are 15 of the smartest, sassiest ladies gracing our screens that remind us that women do, indeed, rule:

If you are like me, you have an interesting personality. Basically, you love to be sassy and snarky, gossip, and act like a total bitch (not really), but deep down, you are actually a very genuinely nice person. The idea of actually hurting someone truly makes you feel bad, and you probably have never actually hurt someone’s feelings because your kindness always shines through, even if you do not want it to. Not sure exactly what I would call this type of personality, but if you identify with it, here are some feelings you can undoubtedly relate to.
