Just great. Mr. LaRachelle was probably returning from getting his coffee. I could hear his footsteps getting louder and louder as he got closer and closer. Soon his footsteps seemed to get faster. Then there was the sound of rushing air and I felt a sharp sting on my right cheek. The world snapped back into perfect clarity and I saw Roy racing around the room searching for something.

"What are you doing?" I whispered.

"Looking for a first aid kit, you dummy!" Roy yelled back, "What the hell were you thinking?!"

I just stood there in shock. Then I looked down at my wrist and immediately saw the color red everywhere. Blood was dripping down off of my wrist and onto the cream floor, forming a small, dark red puddle.

Eventually Roy ran over with a handful of paper towels.

"This is the best I could find," he said.

I just nodded my head and let him apply pressure to my wound. As soon as he touched it I flinched in pain.

Roy's face seemed to contort into an apologetic expression and then rapidly changed into anger. "What the hell were you doing!" he harshly asked. "Are you crazy?".

"Nobody likes me or cares for me," I whispered.

"Are you insane? Why do you think that I sat with you today?" he replied.

"Because it was the only place to sit," I shot back, "You never would have sat by me of your own free will; nobody would have. Everybody hates me and wishes I weren't even here! The world would be much better off without me!".

"You think I sat by you because I had to?" he asked, "I sat by you because I think you are one of the few honest and genuine and kind people in this godforsaken place!" he yelled right back at me. "Everybody else just shrinks away from me, because they don't want to get in trouble and end up at some delinquent school. They are all frightened of me, but you aren't. You treat me like a normal human being."

I remained silent as I stood there in shock. He actually does think I am a worthwhile person. My thoughts started racing. If he thinks I am a good person, then maybe other people think the same!

Roy continued to apply pressure to my wound and then proceeded to bring me out to his car and drove me to the emergency room. The car ride there was basically Roy freaking out and me telling him to calm down. At the emergency room, they quickly stitched up my wrist and told me that I would have to come back soon. They also questioned me about what happened. Initially, I said that it was an accident, but, as you can imagine, that was completely unbelievable and Roy jumped in without hesitation and explained everything that he saw. After discussion with my doctor, they decided to transport me to the nearest behavioral health hospital. Roy stayed with me the whole way to the hospital. He stayed by my side and supported me the whole way.

Why was he treating me like this? He only just came back to school, and, besides, it's not like I mean anything to him. I'm just another girl to him.

When, yet again, my thoughts started to turn dark, I felt Roy's hand slip into mine and squeeze my hand tightly.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
