A Letter To My Dad On Father's Day

At a time in our lives when we were getting used to being apart, you always made time and effort to be in my life.

A Letter To My Dad On Father's Day

As Father's day approaches, I find myself thinking about how lucky I am to have a dad like mine. Like many people, my parent's got divorced when I was still kind of young. Although my dad left my house many years ago he never left my life or my heart. He has always stepped up and been the best possible dad I could ever ask for.

To my daddy,

I have so many amazing memories of our adventures while I was young. Trips to the zoo, amusement parks, lots of cookouts and movies. You always know how to make our time together lots of fun and I'll always remember every adventure we've ever had and will have in the future.

I want to thank you for stepping up at a point in a young girl's life when lots of fathers' disappear. I know divorce is hard but sometimes it's for best. At a time in our lives when we were getting used to being apart, you always made the time and effort to be in my life. And you still do.

I know I'm growing up and it must be hard to see your little girl less often, but I just want you to know I am forever grateful for you. I know we might not get to hangout as much as we used to, due to the busy life of a college student but I want you to know you still mean the world to me. I look forward to our phone calls every day, your random funny texts and the time we do spend together. I am beyond lucky to have a dad who cares about his children as much as you do.

I know not everyone is as lucky as I am to have such a great relationship with their dad. I love you so much and I always will. I love the fact that you crack yourself up. I love that you call yourself a "handsome young lad." I love that you're so hardworking and would do anything for your kids. I love that you're always joking around with my friends. I love our daily FaceTime calls. I love the time we spend together.

So here's to a day for recognizing you. A stand up, hard working guy who I'm so lucky to call my dad. An amazing father figure and an amazing person in general. Thank you for being the best dad I could ever ask for. I would honestly be so lost without you. It's a great feeling to know that I can count on you being there for me for the rest of my life. I hope you know, not just today but everyday, that I appreciate you more than I can even express. I am beyond grateful to be able to call you my dad.

Happy Father's Day,

With lots of love from your little girl

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
