To be frankly honest with you, I thought you were joking. Up until I heard the results of the election I honestly thought you were joking. I have to tell you that I still half expect you to stand up and reveal that this was all just a publicity stunt. Can you blame me? I have followed your campaign, and I have seen the hatred that seems to follow you around. Most importantly, I have watched you encourage it. Maybe not intentionally, but with phrases like “grab her by the pussy," or “You know, it really doesn’t matter what the media write as long as you’ve got a young, and beautiful, piece of ass.” And I am only focusing on your degradation of women. I have not even touched your comments on the other issues.

I am afraid. As a young, straight, white, American, female I am afraid. I have already seen my worst fears about your presidency come to life. I have seen protests, acts of violence, rape, robbery, that have all been carried out in your name, and this is only day two. I am worried for my safety, and for the safety of those that I love. I understand that, directly, you may not be condoning this, but the fact of the matter is that it's happening. And whether you wish to acknowledge it or not, it's happening because of you.

Please understand that my goal is not to attack you. I do not hate you, there is too much hate going on right now and I refuse to be a part of it. But I cannot idly stand by and watch my country crumble because of some of those who support you. Because of your supporters who take your phrasing literally. Because of the supporters that, for some unknown reason, believe that they are helping you by being hateful and violent. I have a dreadful feeling in the pit of my stomach that tells me you are going to lead us to ruin. I pray that I am wrong.

I guess what I am trying to say, is that I hope you fully understand the magnitude of your new position. It is no longer just about you, but about the millions of people who now look to you. To be their leader, their protector, and to govern them fairly. I think I speak for the majority of the American people when I say, PLEASE don’t screw this up.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
