7 Annoying People That Exist On Every College Campus

Whatever happened to "no cuts, no buts, no coconuts?"

College is awesome a lot of the time, but let's face it; there are some things about college life that can really get on your nerves. Whether it be an 8 a.m. class that meets four times a week or having to wait in a never-ending Starbucks line when you only have 10 minutes before class starts, there are plenty of aggravating ordeals that college students face daily.

But sometimes the most frustrating thing about going to college is the different types of people you encounter who really have a way of getting on your nerves. Here are just a few:

1. People who cut in line.

We all know this person. You're just standing in line, minding your own business and being a reasonable, patient human being, when suddenly a group of people just mosey on up to their friend who happens to conveniently already be in line.

They strike up a conversation and, inevitably, end up joining their friend in line, cutting you and all the other people who know how to wait their turn. Whatever happened to "no cuts, no buts, no coconuts?"

2. People who leave their hair in the shower.

If you're like me and have had the wonderful privilege of sharing a communal bathroom with 50 other people, I'm sure you're very familiar with this phenomenon. If not, please imagine going to take a nice, relaxing shower, only to find the walls covered and drains clogged with mystery hair.

I get if you want to put your stray hairs on display of the wall of your own private shower at home, but I definitely do not appreciate having to look at your hairy masterpiece while I bathe.

3. People who stand in the bike lane.

A bit of backstory on this one -- I ride my bike around campus. At my school, there are technically only a few places where students are allowed to ride their bikes, with the major one being a bike lane that runs through the center of campus. If you're caught riding your bike anywhere else you can be issued a pretty substantial ticket.

So pretty much everywhere is free reign for pedestrians except for this 5-foot-wide strip running down one side of the walkway. Even so, some people like to walk or stand in the bike lane, and then get mad when people on bikes or skateboards try to get past. Please, don't be that person. Stay out of the bike lane unless you belong there.

4. People who eat loudly in the library.

While I appreciate that we all need a little snack now and again, what I do not understand is the need to loudly crunch every chip that you put in your mouth. We all know you're eating chips, pal. You don't need to remind us with every bite. I don't care if your bag of chips is loud when you open it, just please refrain from chomping and smacking your lips while I'm trying to study.

5. People from the next class who come in and take their seats while your class is still trying to leave.

Once a class is over, you want to get out of there ASAP. It's harder to do that when people who have a class in that same room next are trying to force their way in before you've had a chance to get out. This gets especially messy when it's a very big or very small classroom.

I was trying to leave a classroom once and someone from the next class had already taken the desk in front of me before I was even done collecting my things. They'd also thrown their bag into the middle of the aisle, which I ended up tripping over.

6. People who sit at a table in the mess hall doing nothing when it's super crowded.

As long as you're actively doing something, I don't really mind if you're taking up a table. But if you're just sitting there staring at your phone or spacing out, go someplace else! Especially if it's crowded. You can sit on your phone anywhere, but there's limited space for people to sit down and eat.

7. People who approach you while you're obviously in a hurry to get to class.

If I have my headphones in and I look like I'm in a hurry to be somewhere, chances are that's exactly what's going on. So please don't sneak up on me and ask if you can say a prayer for me or have me sign a petition or take a survey. Because that will definitely startle me.

College (and the people there) can really grind your gears sometimes. But overall, college is a pretty awesome place to be, so don't let a few small annoyances ruin your amazing college experience.

No Matter How Challenging School Gets, You Have To Put Your Health First — A Degree Won't Mean Anything If You're Dead

Some of the best advice I've ever received was from my social studies teacher in sophomore year of high school. He stated, "If you don't know it at midnight, you're not going to know it for the 8 a.m. exam, so get some sleep."

It's such a simple piece of advice, but it holds so much accuracy and it's something that the majority of college students need to hear and listen to. "All-nighters" are a commonality on college campuses in order to cram in studying for an exam that is typically the next day.

girl with a hat

This is for the girls who have dealt with an emotionally, mentally, physically or verbally abusive father.

The ones who have grown up with a false lens of what love is and how relationships should be. The ones who have cried themselves to sleep wondering why he hurts you and your family so much. This is for all the girls who fall in love with broken boys that carry baggage bigger than their own, thinking it's their job to heal them because you watched your mother do the same.

Blair Waldorf Quote
"DESTINY IS FOR LOSERS. IT'S JUST A STUPID EXCUSE TO WAIT FOR THINGS TO HAPPEN INSTEAD OF MAKING THEM HAPPEN." - BLAIR WALDORF.

The world stopped in 2012 when our beloved show "Gossip Girl" ended. For six straight years, we would all tune in every Monday at 9:00 p.m. to see Upper Eastside royalty in the form of a Burberry headband clad Blair Waldorf. Blair was the big sister that we all loved to hate. How could we ever forget the epic showdowns between her and her frenemy Serena Van Der Woodsen? Or the time she banished Georgina Sparks to a Christian summer camp? How about that time when she and her girls took down Bart Bass? Blair is life. She's taught us how to dress, how to be ambitious, and most importantly, how to throw the perfect shade.

too tired to care

We've all been there. From move-in day to the first finals week in college, your first term is an adventure from start to finish. In honor of college decisions coming out recently, I want to recap some of the most common experiences college freshmen experience.

1. The awkward hellos on move-in day.

You're moving your stuff onto your floor, and you will encounter people you don't know yet in the hallway. They live on your floor, so you'll awkwardly smile and maybe introduce yourself. As you walk away, you will wonder if they will ever speak to you again, but don't worry, there's a good chance that you will make some great friends on your floor!
