Many people who do not understand anime, try to equate it with American cartoons, but its nature can be far greater than that of mere cartoons. Anime shows come in all different genres, and there are many under the horror genre that'll make you squirm and hold on to the edge of your seat. As the crisp breeze of autumn begins to flow and the leaves start to change, "cuddle" season will soon be in full effect. And with Halloween weeks away, what better way to spend your time indoors than to check out some awesome anime shows? Forget Netflix and chill (although you can use Netflix to watch anime), because anime and chill is where it's at. Here are 11 spooky and horrifying anime shows that'll have you holding one another for dear life--not literally I hope.

1. Another

This mystery horror thriller is bound to have you feeling a bit creeped out, especially if you're watching it in a creaky house in the middle of the night. No one is safe in this twist-filled anime series with a ghostly vibe.

4. Death Parade

While not completely on the terrifying side of things as the others on the list, this series will have one deeply thinking about life and the possibilities of what's to come after life ends.

5. High school of the Dead

For those of you who are fans of "The Walking Dead," or simply have a love of the undead, you're in for a treat with this action-packed anime series.

6. Attack on Titan (Shingeki no Kyojin )

Can you imagine waking up to see a giant humanoid creature (a titan) destroying your town and eating your friends? No? Well, watching this will definitely help you picture that terrifying image.

7. Blood- C

Monsters and brutal deaths fill this anime as you follow monster-slaying Saya along on her journey.

8. Death Note

Armed with a notebook called the "Death Note" and a shinigami also known as the god of death, one has the power to instantly kill so long as they have their victim's name.

9. Elfen Lied

Conspiracies and government experimentation revolve around the protagonist in this action and horror series. Be prepared to gasp and cringe.

10. Hell girl (Jigoku Shoujo Futakomori )

This anime will make you wonder how far you'd be willing to go to extract revenge on those who've wronged you, even if there's a price you'd have to pay.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.
