Dear Humans, You Are Not The Only Ones On This Planet

Dear Humans,

I wasn't aware that I had to remind you, but it has come to my attention that you've forgotten there are other creatures, on what this could once be called, beautiful planet. You call yourselves the top of the food chain, yet, you're not smart enough to realize you're destroying not only your home, but ours as well. You have the resources to fix this, but refuse to change.

Why I ask? Are we not worth saving? Do you really not care about future generations? Or are you just that close-minded and selfish? According to National Geographic, before humans evolved, less than one species per million years went extinct annually, but now it's up to 1,000 because of you people.

You have destroyed our homes to build your own.

You have places dedicated to your waste, yet you still throw and litter it where we try to live.

You abuse us and lock us up in tiny cages, labs, and circuses for your own amusement.

You test us with no mind to our well being, only caring about yours. There are other options that include not harming us, but you're too lazy to look or support those products and choose to buy from the big corporate brands that torture us on the daily.

Some of you even claim to love creatures like us, but still buy from big stores that get their animals from places that over bread their pets and have no care if it ends up killing or seriously harming the animal ( e.g. places like puppy mills).

The sad part is, you still rely on us for food, entertainment, help, and scientific purposes, but choose to treat us like the scum under your feet. We're not even treated like second- or even third-class citizens, no, were just props and objects in your eyes. If we had the option, we'd take a stand and refuse to aid you anymore, but we don't even have that choice. If we refuse, we're forced or even harmed or killed. We have no voice in what once to be our world.

Now, you've taken over and we have no option, but to just watch and see the ruins under your control. So we beg, from all the other creatures on this planet, please make a change humans. We're relying on you now.

Yours truly,

the other creatures on this planet

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
