Many of us are unaware of what goes on behind closed doors in the beauty industry. As socially conscious animal lovers, we have the right to support brands that support our values. However, it can be very hard to identify brands that are truly cruelty-free. When shopping it’s tricky to not get confused by the brand statements, ingredients list, and labeling, which are all purposefully done in a way to attack consumerism. Cruelty-free means that neither the products nor the ingredients sourced have been tested on animals. So, to save the bunnies, here are a few beauty brands you should try out.
1. LUSH Fresh Handmade Cosmetics
Not only does LUSH fight against animal testing, but they also source their fresh ingredients from companies that don’t test on animals. The brand’s passion for following ethical values is evident in all of their campaigns and products. Their New Shampoo Bar fights international cosmetics animal testing and trade. Labeled directly onto the shampoo bar, “#BeCrueltyFree” urges customers to take action, use social media and sign the global position. Made out of fresh ingredients such as cinnamon and peppermint, the blend helps to stimulate the follicle and improve hair growth.

2. The Body Shop
The Body Shop sells both vegan and cruelty-free beauty products, making this a one-stop shop for all of your beauty needs. All ingredients used in their products are ethically sourced and The Body Shop advocates for human rights by promoting the fair trade community and their ingredients. Their Shea Exfoliating Sugar Body Scrub has a gentle texture to smooth and refine skin, with fair trade shea butter from Ghana leaving a light nutty scent.
3. Milk Makeup
As a cruelty-free makeup brand, Milk sells products for a range of beauty styles, from barely there to daringly bold, everyone can find a product just for them. All of the Milk Makeup products are cruelty-free and they do not retail in countries that require animal testing. Their vegan Cooling Water is a gel stick formula with ingredients such as seawater and caffeine to help instantly hydrate skin and reduce puffiness.
4. Kat Von D
This bold makeup brand is working their way to becoming 100% vegan. Their most popular products include the Lock-it Foundation with 32 shades for a wide range of full-coverage and the Everlasting Liquid Lipstick with 36 shades to complete every beauty look.
There are plenty of other beauty brands that are cruelty-free, but most consumers are unaware of this label. Not all cruelty-free brands are unaffordable; brands such as ELF and NYX fight against animal testing and are slowly producing vegan products. Our beauty routine is a form of expression, so we should follow a genuine and kind regime.
