Animal Crossing New Horizons came at an amazing time for many of us. It dropped right at the start of self-quarantine, when many schools shifted to an online-only model for the rest of the semester. Many of us have poured an embarrassing amount of hours into this game to craft the perfect island, but that doesn't mean the game itself is perfect. Here are three small adjustments to the game that would make myself, and many other players, very happy.
1. More storage space
One of the biggest issues I have run into with ACNH is the lack of storage space. Even with your house fully upgraded you only get 1,500 spaces to store items in your house. While that might sound like a lot, those spaces quickly fill up with furniture falling out of the trees and sky or being given to you by your other islanders. Not to mention the fact that once you get the Able Sisters' shop on your island you get access to tons of new outfits. I don't know about you, but I need one of every outfit in every color so I can always change to fit my mood. Yes, you can sell a lot of furniture and clothing to Timmy and Tommy and simply repurchase it when you want to redecorate, but this option is not available for special or limited-time items. I would happily spend some bells or Nook Miles to upgrade my house's storage.
2. Buying multiple clothing items at once
Speaking of the Able Sisters, another big pain, and one that can be very time consuming, is the inability to purchase multiples of the same clothing items at once. As I said before, I like to purchase one of every color variation of a clothing item. However, you can only purchase what your character can wear. If you want to buy five color variations of one dress and five color variations of a shirt, you have to go in and out of the dressing room and hear Mabel's schpiel 10 times. It's another little issue, but it's one that can be very annoying. I love Mabel, but don't you think by now she should just know that I need to use the dressing room?
3. Shorter airport loading times
One of the greatest parts about Animal Crossing New Horizons is the ability to visit your friends islands. However, one of the not-so-greatest parts is the long loading screen that informs you when someone is arriving or leaving. This loading process requires that every close any chat windows they have open, stop any in-process purchases, and simply wait for the new player to arrive of the island. While this might not be cumbersome if you're only visiting one person, this loading process is agonizing when you are trying to sell turnips or visit a popular island. Now, I'm not a game developer so it may be impossible to do this, but it would be amazing if they got rid of this loading screen. Why should everyone have to stop what they are doing just to allow another player to enter the island? Even if they can't remove it entirely, it would be amazing to see this sequence shortened.
Though some of these issues may seem minor, they would greatly improve gameplay in many ways. The developers have been very responsive to feedback, so let's hope that they address some of these issues soon as well!
