When I get in a bad mood - for whatever reason - I like to find a release. For me that release comes in the form of angry or loud and heavy music. It might seem Ironic but Listening to fast paced music or music with depressing or angry lyrics actually helps calm me down. That being said here are 11 of my favorite albums to listen to when I need to calm down.

1. All Hope Is Gone - Slipknot

All Hope Is Gone is by far my favorite Slipknot Album with hits including Psychosocial, Dead Memories, and Snuff. This album is heavy and fast paced, great to work out to or relieve a violent rage.

2. All Or Nothing - Pennywise

Pennywise's second newest album is a very fast punk album. As well as being one of the fastest albums in my playlist the lyrics are typical of punk with anger towards society.

3. Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge - My Chemical Romance

Arguably MCR's heaviest album Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge boasts hits including Helena and I'm Not Okay (I Promise). I find this album to help me get over a more depressed mood than an angry one.

4. The Sickness - Distrubed

Disturbed's most famous and second studio album which has hard rock anthem Down With The Sickness. An all-around great album, while not as heavy as some other metal, the percussive vocals give it a very angry sound.

5. Tripolar - Sick Puppies

With songs like Odd One and Your Going Down, Tripolar is the perfect balance between angry and heavy and depressed and quiet. A great album for almost any time.

6. Nothing Personal - All Time Low

Nothing Personal's biggest hit is by far Therapy which is always great when you are feeling down. Whatever this album was meant to be about, to me it sounds like it's about a girl. Makes this album great for going through a breakup.

7. Walk Among Us - The Misfits

The first album from The MisfitsWalk Among Us made punk history. Taking traditional punk sound and adding in horror themes made the album unique. Walk Among Us Includes songs such as Skulls, 20 Eyes and Astrozombies.

8. Hellbilly Deluxe - Rob Zombie

Similar to Walk Among Us, HellBilly Deluxe has horror themes to it. Unlike Walk Among UsHellbilly Deluxe is founded in hard rock. Between The Misfits and Rob Zombie there is music for all lovers of horror.

9. Rise And Fall, Rage And Grace - The Offspring

More a fan of pop-punk? Then Rise And Fall, Rage And Grace is the album for you. Featuring Offspring hit You're Gonna Go Far Kid you get all the anger of the punk albums with a different sound.

10. Appetite For Destruction - Guns N' Roses

Classic from rock history with hits such as Sweet Child O' Mine, Welcome To The Jungle, and Paradise CityAppetite For Destruction is packed full of great songs to calm down to.

11. Against The Grain - Bad Religion

Circling back around to punk music again we have one of my favorite Bad Religion albums. Against The Grain embodies the rage from the LA punk scene and puts it all into an intellectual argument for your enjoyment.

**This list w/ descriptions is entirely my own opinion. I love relaxing to heavy, hard, or angry music. If that's your thing, I hope this list gave you some new ideas, if not you at least have some new music to check out sometime.

Enjoy everyone!!

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

For those long nights that turn into mornings when the struggle is real.

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

winter

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. All we can do is hunker down with our books, order some Dominos, and pray that it will all be over soon. Luckily, we are not alone in this suffering. To prove it, here are just a few of the many deranged thoughts that go through a college student's mind during finals week.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
