The iPhone vs Android Debate

I find it very entertaining when I see other people talk about how much they love their cellular devices. To put the icing on the cake, let's see if we can try to settle this ongoing debate on which product/cell phone is better.

The iPhone vs Android Debate

In This Article:

This week, I decided to create a survey to figure out which phone the public likes the most. Not only did my lovely followers vote on my survey, they even provided feedback on why they chose that particular device. I opened up the survey to both sets of followers on Facebook and Instagram (@angeljjsneed).

Voting Poll

As you can see from the above picture, over 185 people were able to see this poll; however, 53 people willingly answered it. 41 people voted for the iPhone and 12 people voted in favor of the Android. To take it a step further, I also asked people about their personal opinion for the device they chose.

iPhone Synopsis

Most of the iPhone users stated that the iPhone itself was a lot easier to use and more flexible than the regular android. One of the respondents stated: "It's easier to use and I can have mine for a long time without having significant problems". Another one of the respondents on my Facebook poll stated: "I've had both iPhone and android, I prefer iPhone because it seems like iphone has a lot more things going on in the background to make your life run smoothly, for example my phone noticed a pattern around when I get up in the morning and asked if I wanted to set quiet hours during those times, or when it starts to get dark my phone sets yellow light mode to reduce eye strain. I feel like the iPhone just has more things that make life easier, and you can do the same things with android but you have to set them all yourself". Another party agreed stating: "same. iPhone for me. The phone really sets to you once you get it and if you use the same account you'd never have to change a thing. Just makes life easier lol". The second respondent on my Facebook page stated: "iPhone, I have a MacBook so it made sense to have an iPhone. Regardless of the updating, I really like the tech advancements done at Apple". It seems to me that the customization and the syncing between different devices make it a lot easier for most people.

Android Synopsis

Most of the Android users agreed on the fact that the iPhone was too expensive, it dies quicker, and that the Android is ahead of its time (ahead of Apple). One respondent on my Instagram poll stated: "Iphones are too expensive for the lazy specs, there are some Chinese phones that are better". I was able to get a few responses on my Facebook poll that were in favor of the Android also. One of the respondents stated: "I have android, and while I'm not sure it's "better", I think a lot of the struggle is how different they are to use. I'd never switch over because everytime I touch an iPhone, I get SO confused." Speaking from someone who has had both devices, I can agree on the fact that the iPhone can be a little bit confusing at first. I still sometimes have a hard time looking for my contacts, photos, and other apps. Another respondent stated: "I prefer Android. It is more customizable, the battery life doesn't disappear like it does on an iPhone, and, while the resale value of iPhones may be higher, Androids you can modify and change in the device itself, making it more valuable".

Personal Commentary

I believe that both devices are equally good. iPhones are good for personal synchronization between all of the Apple products (iPad, Macbook, iPhone, Apple watch, etc). Once you set up one iCloud account, you can literally sync/sign-in to the other apple devices and you have all of your personal info, photos, emails, social media outlets, etc all on each device without having to figure out passwords/codes. iPhones have great camera quality. They are so good, you don't necessarily need a High Tech camera for video recording and picture taking. iPhones are also (in my personal opinion) pleasing to the eye and just like my survey participants stated that the devices can be customized based on what you use the Apple devices for. Androids may not be as expensive as Apple products, but they can be just as good if not better. I don't understand why they continue to state that iPhones are more customizable then Android when Androids have more apps to create a personal customization look and feel throughout the phone. I do know that if you are on a Verizon android phone, you can sync the devices through the Verizon account and still have everything, just like the iCloud (how ironic). Some Androids have amazing cameras aswell such as the "Galaxy, Samsung, Google Pixel and Sony". Without even overthinking it, there is always going to be a debate between which device is better. But it's so funny how the devices are extremely similar. They may have not been created by the same creator but they can function identically to each other and get the job done the same. Hope you enjoyed this read.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
