This summer I decided to sit down to read a summer book. Out of all the books in the world, it was going to be hard to pick one to read. My mom had just read Andi Dorfman book “It’s Not Okay.” She was one of my favorite bachelorettes so I thought it would be a great book to read. I haven’t fully finished it yet, but I have a pretty good idea about what is about. It definitely has been giving a different perspective of what the whole bachelor/ bachelorette franchise is about.
For those who don’t remember Andi Dorfman she first appeared on Juan Pablo season who is referred to as “number one” in her book. She was one of the front runners in the season. She famously shut him up after the overnight date, telling him about how he doesn’t really know her asking him a serious of questions about herself. Then she shut him down when she threw his famous “It’s Okay” line back in his face. Fans might have thought that was going to be end of Andi Dorfman but it wasn’t, when she later became the bachelorette.
I remember being incredibly excited when I found out that Andi was going to be The Bachelorette, since she was one of my favorite on Juan Pablo season. Her book talks about her experiences from when she first started the audition process all the way to finding out she was going to be the bachelorette. The back and forth she felt when she agreed, just like she did when she first thought she was going to audition for the first place. She talks about it in very much detail, and she doesn’t sugarcoat the experiences at all. I thought it was interesting to see her thoughts and feelings. She talks about how she fell in love with “number twenty-six” in the book. She talks about the breakup and her recovery, and how the experience basically changed her life.
People are very judgmental and have different views on this book because it is primarily focused on Reality TV show, which some people are critical about. I’m enjoying this book because I loved Andi Dorfman as the bachelorette. Though it did make me open my eyes and start to realize some of the issues Andi talks about in her book, but also some of my own opinions on the bachelor / bachelorette franchise from here on out by watching Jojo season. I’m putting what Andi talks about in perspective while watching.
In my opinion about the show, now watching Jojo season people need to realize this is a reality TV show. The people on the show are human. They aren’t fictional characters being written in for show. These are their real lives they are putting out there to find to love. Although some parts may be fabricated and definitely there for a reason. It is still people trying to find love. They aren’t puppets.
On every season there are the articles that come out about the jealous exes and the people who are there for the wrong reasons. It instantly breaks my heart the amount of times articles like this have come out so far for Jojo season. The jealous exes who come out for their five minutes of fame. I always find it kind of laughable to be honest. Whether it’s true or not they are being pathetic, they are jealous of the persons success and happiness on the show. I don’t know why people can’t just let them fall in love.
Another thing that breaks my heart is when there are articles that come out about how people aren’t there for the right reasons. They are just there to get on the cameras. Knowing that if they hopefully make it to a certain part they will become the bachelor/ bachelorette and that’s just sad. The saddest is always when the relationship doesn’t work. That is the most heartbreaking especially after you watched the love you thought was real. That what was what happened with Andi and “number twenty-six.”
I believe that finding the right person, can honestly be true. It has happened before on this show. There are definitely people that are there for the right reasons, and it is great when they find the love that lasts. I really do enjoy watching this show every Monday, seeing how gorgeous the dresses are that the girls wear, and seeing the guys fight over the girl. It’s an interesting show. I also always watch it and am incredibly jealous of Chris Harrison job. Andi Dorfman book is definitely a must-read, because truly it did open my eyes up about the whole franchise.
