And Now You're All Alone

For most colleges classes are already in full swing. Professors handed out syllabi about a week ago and now it's off to the races. Although colleges is in full swing, it's kind of feels like we just moved in. At least it does for me.

Moving back to college was bittersweet this year. On one hand, I was very excited to be back in my element and to have my own place again. On the other hand, I knew I was going to have to be away from my boyfriend for a very long time. Forcing our physical relationship into a long-distance relationship.

My boyfriend and I are from the same home town. So the summer was the perfect opportunity to finally be together. Three beautiful months went by, but now I just feel like our time if flying away from us while we are at a standstill.

Although long-distance can be the demise of a relationship, it can also prove that a relationship has longevity. Here's how to keep your long-distance relationship in the now.

1.) Phone Calls, Texts, FaceTime

Are just one way you can keep your significant other in the know. Make sure you talk to them frequently throughout the day, whether that is a quick text, an hour-long phone call or a constant FaceTime. It's so important that you do not break contact just because there is a distance between you.

2.) Share!!

Don't just say what's up every few days. Talk to your significant other about your day and the things you are doing, and ask them about their day. Remember to shoot more than the breeze because you would normally if you were face to face talking to them.

3.) Visit

If it is possible for you to go visit them or they can visit you make is possible. This will be your saving grace while in a long-distance relationship. Knowing that you will both see each other soon gives you something to look forward too.

Most of all. Do not lose sight of what you have because your person isn't physically there with you. If you start to loose feelings, make sure you talk to your boyfriend or girlfriend about how you feel. Communication is key in any relationship.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
