Before we begin, let's just get this fact out of the way, if you don't use an iPhone, then this article isn't for you. Now for those of you that DO use an iPhone, and you live by it, day in, day out, etc., this article is for you. Thanks for sticking around.
Now the iPhone 7 is on the market, and the new piece of tech from Apple has people furrowing their brows a bit. "Wait, there's no headphone jack? What gives, man? Screw you, Apple!" Yes, the new phone has no headphone jack. So in order to listen to music, you plug your headphones into the lightning port (where you plug in a charger), or you can use Bluetooth headphones. Is this annoying? Yes, absolutely. There's no way around it. However, that's not why we are here. Also, I'm not getting into the charger/adapter stuff.
Look, I bought the iPhone 7, and I love it. However, just because I love it doesn't mean you will (cause you don't know me that well). Personally, I like it because it's new and the camera is great and it runs a lot faster and it's slim and it's sleek. Also, I don't mind the absence of the headphone jack. Do I think it's bogus that Apple removed it? Of course. It's an idiotic move and one that will have their "front of the line" customers searching for an alternative phone. But let's move on.
The iPhone 7 works for me because of who I am. I work in a school. I cannot listen to music on my phone while I'm at work. I cannot frequently text on the job, if at all. I listen to music or podcasts via earbuds while I'm at the gym, and that's pretty much it. If this is the kind of person that you are, you can comfortably make the jump.
Now keep in mind, there are drawbacks in that situation to picking up an iPhone 7. Bigger picture stuff, here. Let's say you are going on a long plane ride and have an audio book all ready to go. Your battery will not last for that whole time. On an old phone, you could easily plug it into an external battery pack, plug in your headphones, and still keep listening to your story. Not here. You either listen to your phone or you don't. Or you need to get Bluetooth headphones to also use. See for me, I always bring alternate materials to do on a plane, but maybe not you. So think about that.
The iPhone 7's battery is way better, so if you do use it at work for some sort of entertainment, it'll probably keep for the entire work day if you aren't really doing anything else, like looking through facebook or whatnot. Just make sure it has a high percentage of green before you head to your 9-5, yo.
Is this a lot of micro managing? Yes. However, the "lack of jack" can be a minimal problem if you really take the time to think about if the phone will work in your life for your life. For me, it does, cause I don't need to quietly listen to the sick beats stocked on my phone until after work for maybe an hour a day. If I really get worried about a low battery, I just bring a charger to work.
Hopefully this analyzing helps you decide what to do about buying a new smartphone from Apple. At the end of the day, if you can work around new features, and you are dedicated to the iPhone, you'll make it work. Technology is always changing, and unfortunately, even though we may not want to, we have to change with it.
