An Open Thank You To My BFF

Oftentimes, every-day life gets just a tad bit overwhelming. I can't speak for everyone when say this, but I'm confident that the majority of us usually reach out to that one best friend when this occurs. Odds are, they are one of your first friends. The Day One homies. They're the friend you know you can always count on regardless of the situation. For those of us girls out there who have someone like this in our lives, this is for you. Thank them. They deserve it. Even if its for the littlest things.

1. Thank you for sticking by my side throughout all of these years

Without you, I probably would've spent many nights drinking that bottle of wine alone. Not to mention that I also would have taken a few more hours to stop crying -- but your corny jokes put a nice smile on my face in record time.

2. Thank you for being brutally honest

Someone needed to tell me that I looked terrible, or that my newest choice in men was less than acceptable. Thanks for stepping up to the plate to be the bearer of harsh realities. I needed it.

3. Thank you for accepting that even though we might not talk every day, you're still my BFF

Nobody has time for anything anymore. This whole adulting thing isn't what we thought it would be, but having you by my side makes it much more tolerable.

4. Thank you for loving me at my worst

This includes coming over post-breakup and sitting with me in silence while I sobbed uncontrollably. Your presence was more comforting than you know.

5. Thank you for giving me a second family

I can literally walk in your house, grab a soda and park it on the couch with your parents totally unannounced and they wouldn't even question it. The best part? You probably aren't even home when it happens.

6. Thank you for coming to the bar with me on a Monday

In our defense, nobody likes Mondays anyway.

7. Thank you for taking random trips with me because I don't want to run errands alone

By errands I mean shop impulsively at Victorias Secret because the semi-annual sale only happens semi-annually.

8. Thank you for being the same friend today as you were when we first met 16 years ago

You haven't changed your ways or strayed from the initial impression I got many moons ago. You're still the same witty (if you're reading this, yes I did that on purpose) goofball and I wouldn't trade you for the world.

9. Thank you for teaching me the definition of a true friend

If I could, I'd just put your name next to it in the dictionary

10. Thank you for being you

If not for you, I'd be missing out on one of the most generous and kindhearted individuals I've crossed paths with in my 23 years of life. Cheers to you, best friend! Cheers to us as well. Rumor has it that if a friendship lasts seven years, it will last a lifetime. Guess what? You're stuck with me! xoxo

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

Everybody gets sick once in a while, but getting sick while in college is the absolute worst. You're away from home and your mom who can take care of you and all you really want to do is just be in your own bed. You feel like you will have never-ending classwork to catch up on if you miss class, so you end up going sick and then it just takes longer to get better. Being sick in college is really tough and definitely not a fun experience. Here are the 15 stages that everyone ends up going through when they are sick at college.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!

There is nothing quite like family.

Family is kinda like that one ex that you always find yourself running back to (except without all the regret and the angsty breakup texts that come along with it).
