An Open Letter To The Rushing Millennial

Why do we hurry up just to wait?

An Open Letter To The Rushing Millennial
LLIMONEFUL

Dear Millennials,

Why are we in a rush? Why do we hurry up and wait? We are all so wrapped up in making it through the next phase in life that we forget to take time to enjoy the little moments. We are even in a rush to do the things we should be enjoying.

When we were kids, we spent hours doing things like playing with our toys or hide and seek with our friends but now we struggle to make time to do small things such as join a friend for coffee. Maybe it’s because we were pushed to become successful, because that is what society wants us to be, but if we continue this way we might miss out on the little joys in life. We even rush when doing things we should take time to appreciate. It seems as if everything has become a daunting task we have to check off our to do list. We have even condensed things such as reading the news to a simple retweet of a 140 character statement. Where are we all rushing to?

Everyone is in a hurry to grow up. We often find ourselves so focused on the future that we forget to engage in the present. In the recent years, society has made us believe that to be successful in life we must fulfill our materialistic needs. Social media is so full of people like celebrities flashing their new cars that we get stuck with the ideal that we must rush to be like them. It seems as if people now are expecting success at a much younger age. We are all hurrying to get what should be done in 10 years in half the time. What happens when we get there? Are we going to want to reminisce on all of the extra hours we spent working or will we be able to look back on the times we enjoyed? Don’t get me wrong, being successful is a good goal, but we should make sure that we take time to enjoy the big and small moments life gives us. After all, we only have one chance.

Sincerely,

Just Another Millennial

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.

Cambio

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
