Stress. College. Work. Games. Extracurricular activities. Friends. Family. All the above. You just want to give up, I get it. But you should stay strong and push through all of this.

The thing we don't find out until the actual experience are all the stresses that come with the classes, parties, jobs and events throughout our lives; it piles up. This isn't just normal worrying or over thinking, people absolutely freak out at times and can have breakdowns. Yes, our lives are amazing, but at some point, during all the experiences you realize that this will all come to an end. You can't sleep in everyday and there won't be classes to skip while in college. You will not be able to go to work one day because your body will be to fragile to even get out of bed. Your friends will eventually fade into your past while you make new ones. Responsibilities can't just be pushed off until tomorrow. This is reality, the real world is going to happen, fast; and when that thought sets in, it hits you like a brick wall.

I am here to tell you, I understand. I know that there are points where you get stressed out and give up, but the reality is, you can’t. You cannot just decide to shut the world out and not get out of bed. You CANNOT give up.

I get the feeling that you are just so tired. You’re tired of fighting through the same rubbish every day. You’re tired of the act, the monotony and the endlessness of it all. You’re just plain tired, in fact no one in the history of the universe has ever been as tired as you are right now. That’s right, no one. Ever. Ever.

Here are some things to think about before you decide to give up:

You never fail until you’re satisfied with failure.

What you have learned is what’s important.

Tough times are just part of life’s natural balance.

Pain helps you grow.

Success is a way of living.

It’s not supposed to be easy.

Life is still good.

No matter how hard life gets or how overwhelmed you get, you will pull through it. Once you pull through it, you will be on top of the world! Life is a struggle. Life will through curve balls at you, it will humble you, it will attempt to break you down. And just when you think things are starting to look up, life will smack you back down with ruthless indifference.

When you think about giving up, I want you to think about how all of the hard work will pay off. I want you to think about how amazing it will feel to do something that you thought you would not be able to get through. So work hard, study hard for finals, practice hard for games, and try your hardest to not get stressed out. I want you to feel like you have conquered the world.

The reason most people never achieve their dreams is because they simply give up. Life was never meant to be easy – its a constant struggle, with extreme lows and extreme highs. Remember that the times when its most important to persevere are the times that you will be most tested.

Sincerely,

Yourself

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
