An Open Letter To The Person Who Is Afraid Of Change

I'm Gonna Make a Change, For Once In My Life

An Open Letter To The Person Who Is Afraid Of Change
Before You Love Again

"Variety is the spice of life, that gives it all its flavors" - William Cowper

With the new year approaching, we find ourselves creating New Year's resolutions. Sometimes, we pick something completely unrealistic while other aspects are manageable. There's people out there who stick to their goals, while others break it on January 1st. Whether or not you complete your goals, there's one thing in common between all of us. In life, we go through many changes. It could be the seasons, new boyfriends, or even a mid-life crisis. Wherever your life takes you, change is bound to happen. We're sometimes not happy with change, and other times it's very much needed. For one thing, we are not the same person we were 10 years ago, nonetheless three weeks ago. Everyday we wake up and change our outfits. Yes, we might wear similar clothing, but there are aspects that change. Each day is different from the next. We might stick to a routine, but it is not that same exact thing and we definitely don't do everything the same.

Some people are afraid of change and that's okay. If you're a person who likes to stick to a schedule and do similar things, change can be overwhelming. Breaking out of an old relationship can also be extreme change. You go from loving someone to feeling like your heart was ripped out of your chest. Change can bring out obsessive thoughts and feelings: Is everything going to be okay? What will my future look like? Why is this not going the way it should? Life can change at any second. Some are ready to jump on the bandwagon, while others are preparing to fall off.

For sure if we lived in a society where change did not exist, life would be boring. Imagine repeating the same tasks over and over again. Wouldn't you get sick of it?Nobody wants to take that leap of faith, but I see it as everything happening for a reason. If change is coming about in your life, there is a reason why that opportunity is put in front of you.

Change is good whether you want to believe that statement or not. It may not be good in that particular moment, but at some point you will find it's purpose. Life is a journey with multiple paths and your road is created especially for you. We are meant to be sad and angry, as life is about experiencing all of these emotions. You can't be afraid to express them because the beauty of it lies in what is ahead of us.

I know change is scary. I know you probably nervous and don't want to do it, but what do you have to lose? The next time you go through a change, think about this: Where would you be today if things in your life didn't change? Would you still be the same person? Whether you are 15 years old or 50, what are you really going to miss out on? When times are amazing or you're going through a rough patch, you should always remember to be fearless (or at least try to be). You only live one life, and for sure you don't want any regrets. Please do not forget who you are and what you stand for. Change for yourself and only yourself. Nobody should strip you of your own power and dignity.

Cheers to new beginnings.

xoxo

To The Cheerful Person On Their Rainy Days, You Are Valid

The world is not always sunshine and rainbows, and you do not have to be, either.

Ask friends of mine to name a quality about me, and one a lot them will point out the fact that I am almost always smiling. I like to laugh and smile -- not to quote Buddy the Elf in April, but smiling is my favorite! It is probably my favorite go-to expression. However, what a lot of people do not see is that I have my down days. I have days when smiling and laughing is a real struggle, or when I have so much on my plate that going out of my way to behappy takes more effort than I have stored in me. Be it a symptom of college and growing up or a facet of life, I cannot always be content.

Amidst my hectic college career, I always find time for one thing, even on the busiest weeks: Parks and Recreation. This show has made me laugh and has made me cry, but most of all I have related to this show more than I would like to admit.

Here are some "Parks and Rec" moments that relate to life struggles that just about everyone faces.

April Ludgate

April Ludgate from Parks and Recreation is notorious for her "I don't care" attitude. She speaks her mind without caring what anyone thinks of her. Fans love her because she isn't afraid to be herself. April can seem cold and negative, but she's really just fearless and strong-minded. And despite her sometimes harsh words, April truly cares about the people she's closest to. These are all reasons she is the epitome of a college student. April complains whenever she has to do any kind of work, but ends up doing the work anyway. April Ludgate is the ultimate college student spirit animal.

11 Ways To Live The Best Life You Can

Life is full of twists and turns, but you have to keep going.

Life is all about twist and turns, sideways and which ways. Nothing is permanent, so we should take risks, and chase our dreams. We are taught at a young age many lessons that will follow us into adulthood. What we aren't taught is how to feel, and how we handle those emotions. We just have to figure them out ourselves, and that's not fun. In my 21 years of living, I have come to know that way too many people can't handle emotions, or the fact that not everyone is dead inside like them. When you're like me, and you have zero control over your emotions, it's hard to feel comfortable around people who aren't so in touch with themselves. As much as I would like to feel nothing at times, I've accepted who I am and the fact that I can cry over practically nothing. So, there are some things in life that you just have to do.
