An Open Letter To The People Who Have Seen Me At My Worst

Dear you,

Life is full of struggles. The struggles you endure are what shape you as a person, but it is also those who stand beside you through it all who really make the impact. When the going gets tough and life just doesn’t want to work in your favor, it’s nice to have a helping hand, a shoulder to cry on, and a person to give some words of wisdom. Here’s to those who have been my crutch and seen me at my worst, but choose to help me to be better.

First off, thank you. Thank you for picking me up when I was down, thank you for telling me to put down the ice cream and stop crying, thank you for listening to my life problems, thank you for not judging me but still helping me find humor in my bad decisions, thank you for showing me that there are good and genuine people in the world, thank you for still sticking around after I got mad at you, and thank you for helping me find the beauty when I thought it was lost.

Without you, God only knows where I would be right now.

We may not be best friends, or we might be, but whatever we are, I feel so grateful to have the privilege to have you in my life. You have helped me get out of the hole I have dug and been there for me even when you maybe shouldn’t have. You have chosen to look past whatever flaws we have and lend a helping hand. Sometimes even just the smallest things mean the most. Even when I didn’t deserve it, you were there.

Having a person or multiple people to lend a helping hand means the world and more. Without you sticking by me, I would be so lost. I appreciate all you do, please never forget that. And know that I am always around to return the favor. Whenever, whatever time, I owe you one, two, 5,000 favors. Without amazing people like you, I would be a couch potato still eating my ice cream.

Thank you and I love you.

Sincerely,

Me

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
