To the people that gave up on him,
First I would like to thank you. Not for the way you treated him or the way that you neglected him but for bringing him to me. So thank you, thank you for not seeing the amazing qualities in him or how great of a dog he can be because I am more than blessed that he has found his way to my family. Henry is quite resilient but that does not change the fact that the first year and a half of his life he can never get back.
That does not change the fact that he is now extremely fearful of new people and new things because you made him feel that he had to be. My message to people like yourself is please do not get an animal. Do not buy the cute puppy at the pet store if you have any intentions of leaving them behind when they get too big or too hard to deal with.
Henry get's excited when he wants to play and runs around the house like a crazy man, to us its the most adorable thing in the world but to them, it was "too much." An animal is not disposable, when life gets hard you cannot just decide to leave them at a shelter and never come back. To them, we are their life. They only live roughly 7 to 14 years and so each year is precious. Animals are very similar to people in the way they feel emotions.
Can you imaging being dropped off somewhere completely unknown and your family just never coming back for you? I honestly do not care the circumstance, you make it work. You move, you take the dog with you. Disagree with me all you want but animals are forever. So please do not get another dog, please do not adopt if you do not treat that dog as family. I am sorry that you did not see how amazing he is and I am sorry that you view animals to be disposable. But I will never thank you or this universe enough for bringing him to me. He has sincerely rescued me and my family is giving him all the love he so greatly deserves.
Sincerely,
The family who would never give up on him.
