An Open Letter to the "Non-Feminists"

Let's all just be equal.

An Open Letter to the "Non-Feminists"

To all of you who say you aren't a feminist, why?

Do you not want to be fairly represented in the government? Do you not want young girls to further their interests in STEM areas? Do you not want equal pay to your male counterparts? Do you not want everyone treated fairly? Do you not believe in equality?

The number of women involved in government does not directly represent the number of women in America. Should we not be represented properly? Go ahead and say that not enough women run, say there aren't as many women in politics as men, however, shouldn't that concern us as well? Why are women not as involved?

It's a proven fact that during middle school girls are less likely to "like" science and math. I remember being in middle school and thinking that math was for boys. I don't know why I thought that, I must've picked up somewhere. However, school subjects don't have a gender.

I have this fear that women are pushed in the opposite direction, and I'm afraid to be pushed in that direction. It is one thing to want to be a mom, and it's another to feel like that's your only choice in life. I don't understand why people push for women to be stay-at-home moms, what if a dad wants to stay home?

Women make less than a man, let's take away the numbers for a second. Women make less than men. Blame it on negotiation tactics, but entry level should be the same. It's simple. Women need to ask for more raises and bosses shouldn't intimidate them into thinking they don't deserve it.

In general don't you just want equality? Are men really better than women? Because by saying your aren't a feminist, really what you're saying is that men are superior to women, it's a simple as that. You are putting a whole gender and ranking it higher than half the population. That just makes no sense. Also, just to throw it out there, males are more likely to be serial killers and rapists. Soooooo.... One more thing, feminism includes equality in all of the sucky stuff like the draft too, so let's just all be equal, I think that's fair.

So to those of you who aren't feminists, I guess my question is why? Why don't you want equality? Feminists don't want to be better than you. They just want to be equal to you.

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?

I've been super busy lately with school work, studying, etc. Besides the fact that I do nothing but AP chemistry and AP economics, I constantly think of stupid questions that are almost impossible to answer. So, maybe you could answer them for me, and if not then we can both wonder what the answers to these 15 questions could be.
