To my own personal superhero,

Thank you, Dad, for living up to the unbelievably high standards I've created for you. From the earliest I can remember you have been larger than life. Any problem in my life you could solve in the snap of a finger or a tight hug. When I was young you were my very own choo-choo-train, with an “all aboard!” you carried me around the house on your shoulders, and tucked me into bed. I would tell all my friends how my dad could do anything.

As I got older, I only looked up to you more, despite the fact I was quickly catching up to your height. Through a period of confusion about who I am and what I want to do with my life, you gave me your unwavering support. When the whole family played sports, and I wanted to try art, you gave me a pat on the back and told me I could do anything I set my mind to. Now, from my basketball coach, you became my life coach. Encouraging me to never give up, and to be the best I could be because you had an overwhelming amount of faith in me. You were always so gracious and accepting of me, even when I didn’t know who I was. You’re unfailing confidence in me lead me to believe I could do whatever I desired.

And now, as a college student, you still are my superhero, Dad. Whatever life throws at you, you handle with grace and never give up hope. If it’s a jar I can’t open and a road I cant drive on, or picking a life path and recovering from heartache, I know I can look to you for help. You have given me endless inspiration to be all I can be. I will forever be grateful for all the help you have given me and the lessons you have taught me. I wouldn’t be the person I am today without you.

So to the superhero that I call dad: Although you cant fly or read minds, and the right words are often hard to find, you are the strongest person I know. You have changed my world and saved me more times than any other hero could. As my life goes on I will remember how you have worked so hard for our family and aspire to treat others the way you have treated us. Thank you, Dad, for being you.

Love always,

Your daughter (and trusty sidekick)

27 Things 'The Office' Has Taught Us

"The Office" is a mockumentary based on everyday office life featuring love triangles, silly pranks and everything in between. It can get pretty crazy for just an average day at the office.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

Books were always about understanding for me, about learning the way someone else sees, about connection.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.
