First of all, I want to say congratulations for graduating high school! I'm sure it has been a crazy ride! And congratulations for getting accepted into the best college ever, Missouri State University! If you're excited, you should be! Although this year may look a little different since the pandemic, this school has amazing things to offer and you will be going to many events in the future at some point! Here's my take on MSU, and some advice!

Dorms!

Personally, I lived in Blair-Shannon! It's kinda like two combined into one. It's huge! It has a music practice room, a lounge room, plenty of space for table tennis tables, and pool tables, and the dining hall of course! In my day, there were a lot of things needing to be fixed, but surely those things are in good shape and up and running!

There's also Hammons, Hutchens, Freudenberger (Freddy), Wells, Woods, Kentwood, Scholars, and a new residence hall building opening Fall 2020!

They're all great places to live! More details on these residence halls can be found on the Missouri State University website!

About Springfield, MO...

It's a pretty neat town to go to! Springfield is full of great places to go get food, hangout, listen to music, drink coffee, etc!

The best places to go to for me would have to be:

Mudhouse! Great frozen coffee and awesome atmosphere.

Papo's Pizza! So good!

Kai, if you love sushi! They have other food besides that too!

Best places to legally drink?

The Piano Bar is the place to be on the weekends! It's a blast the entire time!

Rodeo is a good time as long as you don't mind being surrounded by people some times!

Events?

There's usually hundreds! I am unsure of what events will be canceled or not, but I know that these events are a blast!

All the games! Football, basketball, soccer, etc! Plus, you can catch the Pride Marching Band at a lot of events as well! Learn the fight song!

Tailgating is fun (but I wouldn't know too much about it since I am always occupied during this time, being in the band)! Dress is Bear Wear, and have a good time with your new friends you made at MSU!

Bear Wear Friday! Always wear your MSU gear on Fridays to support and represent this amazing school!

SAC plans a lot of events, even concerts! Follow as many MSU related organizations on social media and you can get all the details on what is going on, and who might be visiting campus!

What clothes should you bring?

Well, if you're not already from Missouri, buckle up. You might want to pack a variety of different clothes. You will absolutely need a rain jacket, rain boots, a heavy winter coat, and summer clothes. The weather changes drastically, and you will definitely want to be prepared for every change.

Bear Up!

We don't have a whole lot of secret sayings here at MSU, but if you hear one, I want to know!

Good luck!

You will feel right at home at MSU. There's good people, great organizations to meet them at, and plenty of fun things you can do (even with the semester being as different as it will be this fall)! You will not regret applying. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to reach out! Students, faculty, and alumni are good people to talk to! Go bears! Bear up!

April Ludgate
NBC Universal

Everyone who is in college right now, or has ever been, knows the struggle of pulling in the strings at the last second. It seems impossible, and you have to do a LOT of things in order to assure your future for the next semester.

April Ludgate, historically, is a very annoyed person, and she doesn't hide it. Of all the times that I binged and re-binged "Parks and Rec," her attitude relates more and more to me.

To The Cheerful Person On Their Rainy Days, You Are Valid

The world is not always sunshine and rainbows, and you do not have to be, either.

Ask friends of mine to name a quality about me, and one a lot them will point out the fact that I am almost always smiling. I like to laugh and smile -- not to quote Buddy the Elf in April, but smiling is my favorite! It is probably my favorite go-to expression. However, what a lot of people do not see is that I have my down days. I have days when smiling and laughing is a real struggle, or when I have so much on my plate that going out of my way to behappy takes more effort than I have stored in me. Be it a symptom of college and growing up or a facet of life, I cannot always be content.

Amidst my hectic college career, I always find time for one thing, even on the busiest weeks: Parks and Recreation. This show has made me laugh and has made me cry, but most of all I have related to this show more than I would like to admit.
